sput has been such an interesting site through the years, and compared to what it was in the beginning, the data base has grown so much and there's coverage of waaaaay more genres than there used to, not as fun as it was back in the day, but still has charm,
in about 4 months, it'll be 19 years for me, kinda blows my mind. |

amusing / depressing(?) thoughts aside, I'm not sure this is actually true in all honesty. The userbase is older than I'd previously thought and a lot of the more 'recent' active users, are those that stopped frequenting and then returned. I doubt the site appeals as much to the younger crowd, considering it's like a relic from a bygone era. The fact no new accounts can be made has of course added to the 'aging process' too, lol |

Re Brand New. Seems in recent years they've been equated to a cringe pick for many. Not sure how much of that is tied to Lacey's allegations yada yada but even before that there was a fairly vocal minority that had a hate boner for them. As much as I'd normally love to be part of any contrarian group like that, they are one of that bands that's so heavily tied to my formative years (as a teen, as a college student, as a general music enjoyer...) that it's too hard for me to really separate their music from my goddamn identity at this point, sad as that may sound to some. Sure, there's lots of other paltry music I loved as a kid/teen/YA that I've most certainly "grown out" of, but Brand New just never reached that excising stage for me. |
