2008 Albums You Should Know

Albums I've meant to review or at least staff pick that are really awesome from this year.
1The Flashbulb
Soundtrack to a Vacant Life

It's 31 tracks long and 70 minutes but well worth the time. It travels through a journey of different sounds, from guitar rock to folk acoustics to Eluvium-esque electronica. Amazingly, it all flows together perfectly, perhaps the album's most remarkable acheivement.
2Arms and Sleepers
Black Paris 86

Relaxing electronica but with a pulse.
3The Acorn
Glory Hope Mountain

Americana folk mixed with Honduran rhythms by a Canadian band. You do the math.
4Gifts From Enola
Harmonic Motion Split w You.May.Die.In.The.Desert

Well done split LP on both sides from young post rock bands. Nothing groundbreaking, but perfectly executed.
Rivers Arms

An expansion on the debut album from the acoustic duo. Neoclassical in tonality but minimalist in composition, the album is absolutely gorgeous.
