Favorite Metal Albums
These are my favorite metal albums and I'm not counting Tool because there is too much conflict over whether they are metal or not, even though I think they are metal. |
1 | | Neurosis Times of Grace
Epic, heavy, beautiful, and awesome. Music really can't get much better than this. |
2 | | Isis Panopticon
Sonic bliss + heavy metal + plus beautiful passages = incredible album |
3 | | Isis Oceanic
Raw, heavy, and beautiful. |
4 | | Boris Pink
Sludgy, trippy... upbeat at times... Just a fun album to listen to. |
5 | | Meshuggah Nothing
Appropriate name for this album. Very existential (perhaps NOTHING happens after death... yes, I pulled that outa my ass) and NOTHING sounds like this album. This is where they begin to use their 8-string guitars I believe. |
6 | | Isis In The Absence of Truth
Kind of what I expected the next album would sound like, but it certainly is complete and beautifully produced. |
7 | | Buckethead The Cuckoo Clocks of Hell
Buckethead is the most talented metal guitarist out there (IMO) and comes up with some awesomely quirky riffs... Not for everyone but worth checking out. |
8 | | Mastodon Leviathan
Straight up metal... very well done. Sludgy as well which I always like. |
9 | | Opeth Still Life
I honestly typically find Opeth boring, but this album was so well done. Sounds almost medieval but with great production. |
10 | | Electric Wizard Dopethrone
Another appropriate title. This is brilliantly done stoner metal. Certainly influenced greatly by Black Sabbath's doom-like riffs. |
