Fowl's 29 Days of January Effortposting: FUSELAB
Hi howdy hey y'all I was scrolled BC and it just so happens that you can buy every release on the Russian Electronic Label Fuselab for $38.75. I now have 2 albums I have heard and 116 I haven't. I don't want to make writing out of every single release, so I'm going to listen to one a day throughout the month of January and assign each a score on a scale of: --, -, +, ++

1 |  | Ishome Confession
*Broken Beat / Garage
This was one of the album that helped me fall completely in love with electronic music this last summer. It pulls so much warmth from cold electronic noises; I feel the thick blanket of snow on the cover wrap around me every time I dance to this. Obviously I only even bought the discog because this was offered in it
Score: ++ / Recommended Track: Grade |
2 |  | AL-90 CODE-915913
Minimal Techno / Ambient
Hi-tech, spacey, aloof and whimsical, this is one of those releases I'm really happy to have on FLAC. The techknowers of sput have been reccing this for a while and with good reason
Score: ++ / Recommended Track: Radicalnye Tanzi (with GNTH) |
3 |  | Forma Oblaka Opium
Indie Pop / Lo-fi House
Delightfully strange, Forma Oblaka takes the pounding rhythms of house music and disassembles them, pulling the eerie from the disassociation of experimentation to great effect. Layering fragile, dreamy pop vocals over everything is only the cherry on top. This was a really pleasant discovery
Score: + / Recommended Track: t/t |
4 | | tillugrow Same same but different
IDM
Artsy/fartsy Autechrian IDM that skews more biological than mechanical despite opting for bleepity bloops over Tri Repetae's flatulence fascination. For any sputter who's into mind expansion or that new Hexalyne album. This is really rich and quite tuneful, good stuff!
Score: ++ / Recommended Track: my mind |
5 |  | Monokle Birds Swirl
Ambient EDM
The Fuselab Discog came with three Monokle EPs, so why not cover all three? Well, maybe I shouldn't have covered this one lol, its pretty bad. For starters the production is pretty trash, everything is super compressed and nothing can breath, which is a shame because this is stylistically almost as if ODESZA tried making a Gas album. Some ideas almost work, but when I hear an acoustic guitar over bass that sounds like its playing from my phone speaker I just completely check out. Frankly its just immature, an early project that probably never should have seen the light of day or this list. Alas!
Score: - / Recommended Track: Summer Teaser (feat. Galun) |
6 |  | Monokle Mirrors
IDM
Now this is better! Much bouncier than what I usually expect from IDM, but its a breezy and fun little listen. The production is also much improved, running closer to a dancier New Romantics era Andy Stott.
Score: + / Recommended Track: t/t |
7 |  | Monokle Tricks
IDM / Ambient Techno
Wow what a journey from the start of Monokle's career to now! The growth is palpable, Tricks is 100x more lush and expansive and meticulous than Birds Swirl, what a difference a dedicated decade can make on a sound. There's almost a bit of jungle here too?(pleasebeniceJohnny)? Really strong stuff, wish I'd found it earlier since it came out last year.
Score: ++ / Recommended Track: Newlight |
8 |  | Monokle and AL-90 Mindperfection
!BONUS ALBUM!
IDM / Ambient Techno
While this wasn't included in the Fuselab discog, I might as well highlight that this exists since its awesome and works well thematically. I do think its a little weaker than either CODE-915913 or Tricks, but the bangers here are f-uck-ing sweet. Late night speeding vibes are strong here.
Score: ++ / Recommended Track: Never |
9 | | Computer Graphics We Have To Go
Techno
Sounds as if Windows 95 had an ecstasy era. Residing somewhere between Stimming and BoC, Computer Graphics' most notable attribute is the heaping atmosphere, which, depending on how much you like 90s computer noises, is going to most greatly impact your mileage with this. I like it well enough
Score: + / Recommended Track: WTF (Long Version) |
10 |  | Koett Eno
Techno / House
lfg Koett day! This producer does a lot of stuff, he's kind of hard to genre, but wraps it all under one big dancey bubble. As a debut EP, this is probably his weakest release, but I still had fun with it. Very lush and bombastic
Score: + / Recommended Track: Reshape Whilst Damp |
11 |  | Koett Owt
Techno / House
More indebted to deep house than any other Koett EP, Owt is a mature refinement of the sound first explore on Eno. Doesn't quite step up to the upper echelon of material on this list, but well worth a spin if Tri is your thing
Score: ++ / Recommended Track: Fusion MK |
12 |  | Koett Tri
Techno / House
God this is a shot of adrenaline to the vein, makes me wanna dance until my legs atrophy. One of my favorite discoveries by far, highly recommended to anyone who likes positive vibes and bouncing on
Score: ++ / Recommended Track: Think Easy (or, just spin the entire thing) |
13 |  | Koett & Wellbeck Can You
!BONUS ALBUM!
Deep House
Ahhh, so this is why Owt had Deep House leanings. This collab with US producer Wellbeck is generally acceptable, but lacks the distinct personality the solo Koett EPs reveled in. As it is I prefer Owt.
Score: + / Recommended Track: Dropman |
14 |  | Eric Delay Four Moments
Dub-Techno
Quick entry today since I'm busy. Brief lil slapper of an EP that's four tracks but is best listened through in whole. Very atmospheric, very bouncy, very fun, Platonic ideal 3.3
Score: + / Recommended Track: Moment Two |
15 |  | Vika Kuchak Stels
Ambient House
Entry got deleted somehow??!? Weird, oh well, this is sick, get on it if you like ethereal vox over deep house beats. Very easy to get lost in, highly recommended for all my Doss heads
Score: ++ / Recommended Track: Найду |
16 |  | Hoavi Cyclones
Ambient / lo-fi
Somewhere between Gas and Panghalina, Hoavi’s debut is certainly relaxing, but unfortunately doesn’t do much besides that. If you’re absolutely desperate for soothing electronic ambient nature sounds you might get more mileage out of this than me, but unfortunately the EP is quite short too. I do really like Hoavi’s debut tho
Score: - / Recommended Track: Cyclones (Tape) |
17 |  | Apollo Eastman Seconds
?Electroacoustic?
A compilation of several years worth of recording, Seconds has some really great highs but sometimes veers into "debut that thinks its too smart for its own good" territory. Lightly recommended
Score: + / Recommended Track: Lain |
18 |  | ZAKLADKI Roller Coaster
Drum & Bass
A riotous blast of internet-pilled electronica, this release just slips by. I've become pretty obsessed with it, something about its more thoughtful take on zoomer excess just tickles my brain right. Plus the sequencing is just marvelous, seriously, give this a whirl. The last track is my favorite and the one I'd recommend, but it really hits hardest after the first seven.
Score: ++ / Recommended Track: June |
19 |  | Yayati MO!NO Love
Deep Techno
Wow this is completely different than 000! Much more playful and irreverent, but equally compelling for so many reasons deeper than the actual sounds at play. I'm forreal obsessed with the stylistic shift Yayati went through, compelling dance music fs
Rating: ++ / Recommended Track: Long Kiss |
20 |  | Yayati 000
Ambient / Deep Techno
This was the first Yayati I listened to so out of laziness I'm making the blurbs postmodern. Most ambient I've encountered isn't as busy as this, but the overwhelming murk of it all makes it so I can't really call this anything else. Soothing but also groovy af, almost as if The Field were more brutalist. Really lovely find
Score: ++ / Recommended Track: L'Orife |
21 |  | Yayati TRETII
Deep Techno
Hmm, this is probably my least favorite Yayati release. Feels more B rate Porter Ricks than 000 ever hinted at, which is fine because Porter Ricks rules, but I miss the relentless personality of MO!NO Love and 000. Substituteable in a pinch, but please good spin one of the other two first
Score: + / Recommended Track: Modul 00 |
22 |  | Morkebla Inner Maze Walkthrough
Ambient Techno
Oh hey Infinity Frequencies! Of all the places to show up... and ofc their feature is the most boring song here. Thank god this spends more time being vaguely toxc-masc imposing ambient, which works, it really does
Rating: + / Song Recommendation: Her Best Son |
23 |  | Broosnica Russian Ecstasy
House
Omg this whole thing is a certified stone-cold slaptastic banger! Just nothing but spectacular house jams overflowing with whatever 'it' is a within a good song that just gets you dancing
Rating: ++ / Song Recommendation: Russian Ecstasy |
24 | | Broosnica Just Trying to Tell Ya
House
More of the same, but bigger, brasher, more bombastic, and with ever-so-diminishing returns.
Rating: + / Song Recommendation: Clear |
