Madmen of rock/metal
These frontmen are the insane jesters of rock/metal. Whether it be their humour, stage antics, lyrical ideas, or just plain weirdness. |
1 | Devin Townsend
Crikey. Where to start? Posing half naked on his album 'Infinity', singing about Olives and imitating a hillbilly ho-down in 'Triumph'. And that doesn't include the live Strapping Young Lad D.V.D where apparently he cuts loose.. |
2 | Mike Patton
He may have mellowed out a bit lately, but the General still has some weird shit to his name: youtube.com has a video of Patton interrupting a MTV host while she's trying to announce the next band. Also invites crowds to indulge in spitting on him. Lyrically he reached some pretty strange heights as well. |
3 | Jim Martin
While i'm talking about Patton, how weird is the former Faith No More guitarist Jim Martin... During a live video of Midlife Crisis, Martin stands dead still smoking a cigarette while he's wearing two pairs of glasses over each other. Also note how he NEVER exposes his face. Not once have I seen it. |
4 | Garm
Ulver/Arcturus frontman Garm is the Norwegian jester. He changes names almost as much as he changes vocal styles. The song title 'Porn piece or the scars of cold kisses' should give you an idea of what runs in this man's mind. |
5 | Syd Barrett
Barrett was the mastermind behind early Pink Floyd and while his work was creative, when it came to live performances he would sometimes play one chord to the sheer horror of his bandmates. Definately a weird man. |
6 | Jeff Buckley
Despite his clean cut looks and passionate music which suggests a fairly straight forward man, Buckley was very weird on stage. I own a D.V.D of him and his humour is quite brilliant. One liners are timed to perfection. |
