Metal obsessed individuals like to think about themselves as being art lovers. I hereby present an overwhelming proof that this perspective is correct. The brilliance of this project is nothing short of stunning. The band's catalogue is downright amazing. The Atmospheric Black Metal is working in a way that makes you feel you've transcended space and time, the archaism is brought by the overall flavour of the music but also by the lyrics in old Romanian not to mention or ok .. let's mention..the set of traditional instruments:dulcimer, tulnic, toacă, xylophone, flute, nai, kaval; you can feel the land, the mud, the sand as well as the wind and the rain (without actually using samples), whilst the sun is nicely rising and warming up the trees, the grass, the spades and the daggers. Vocal work is brilliant as well despite the multiple vocalist changes (9, aka NINE, with at least 3 really major having the vocal lead on minimum one full length)
throughout the band existence with high variation of shrieks, cleans and some baritonal growls that remind me of Nick Holmes on The Plague Within (mainly on Tau). The range of emotions is as well immense: from hypnotic and catchy awe on Tesarul de Lumini to evilish and nightmarish on Dedesuptul and to national pride on Dacia Hiperboreană. I saw them live 3 times, I surely appreciate having had the chance to experience it. |
