But just as an observer there appears to be a lot of camaraderie among users on this site, and there sometimes appears to be at least SOME camaraderie among staffers/contributors. But camaraderie between users and staffers? That seems relatively rare. Not totally absent -- DadKungFu, Johnny and robertsona come immediately to mind here -- but still pretty thin on the ground considering the power staffers have over how the site is run. The site would probably be a little healthier if that wasn't the case; then the transparency issue would take care of itself. But maybe the "health" of this site is merely academic at this point There’s some problems that are out of the staffer’s hands, though, like our society's devolving ability to handle disagreement, argument and reconciliation civilly. But transparency is the one that matters here

I would guess that such a list would get read by at least a few hundred people, a lot more if you spread it around Reddit or Instagram or where ever. (You can't see the view count on a list the way you can on a review, but you probably know who to ask to get them). Anyway, you wouldn't know it from the comments, but there are plenty girl-pop fans on this site. It's just that posting a list like this is like going to a concert where Cannibal Corpse opens for Taylor Swift. You either have to stand back and ignore the comments, or get in the pit yourself. There's aggro here and there, but the staff usually do a good job of ejecting the crowdkillers. I'm 99.9999999% confident that there's a lot of fans on here that would appreciate more lists like this. But preferably with some commentary

Are these pseudo-underground acts in pop? I.e., less commercialized and algorithmic, and more genuine, or what? I'm sure there is a difference, but people from a wider audience -- and on this site wide means really fucking WIDE -- would like some commentary. And apparently even pop lovers disagree.

I prefer Sputnik to be more like a fucking mosh pit – how else can you talk about Death Metal, for Christ’s sake? – but I value the site enough to try and help keep it afloat. Also writing that mosh pit list a couple days ago apparently got me in the mood for fight Finally (fuck man, somebody please get me off this hook and let me swim back to my quiet little pond), “facts” about music and art in general are amusing but just look stupid to me. The only way to measure anything “objectively” is to do it mathematically, and by the numbers Taylor Swift wins because she’s a billionaire. Or Bach wins because his command of textbook theory is unparalleled. I think Taylor’s music sucks and Bach’s music is supreme, but there’s no way I can prove it. Opinions do not equal “facts.”
