11.27.07 | i've only heard those two albums to be honest. you obviously know a lot more about jazz type stuff then i do from what i can tell, but i've been on a bit of a miles davis kick lately and also mahavishnu orchestra. but i do know dave brubeck, he's awesome and so is Count Basie who i'm sure you also know of. |

11.27.07 | I've only just started diving into the jazz world, so any kind of suggestion is always welcome! I know of count basie, but haven't heard anything, what's a good album to start with? |

11.27.07 | now that i'd be hard pressed to tell you, because i am just diving into jazz myself. i'm 17 now and when i was 13 or so i played trombone in jazz band and we covered a lot of count basie/duke ellington/brubeck style stuff. then i got into metal for a few years so i'm trying to get back into the jazz world. i don't know any actual albums by Count Basie but i am sure that almost anything he's done is probably good, i'd look for his early stuff.
But for other great jazz albums definitely get these:
1. Mahavishnu Orchestra - Birds of Fire
2. Miles Davis - In A Silent Way
3. Anything from Jaco Pastorius and Weather Report
and then two albums that aren't jazz but i think you will really enjoy based on your list:
1. Dixie Dregs - Free Fall
2. Eric Johnson - Ah Via Musicom
hope those help :) |
