| Gene's user-rec extravaganza [50-100 votes part]
So I recently went around asking some users for recs of album under 100 but above 50 ratings. And they delivered big. But you can still rec up to two more. I initially wanted to finish up my own sub-100 votes list and then post after I had already listened to the recs, but I just couldn't wait, so let's dive in. | 1 | | Virus (NO) The Black Flux

02.26.21 | @park itās not like Iām taking serious offense here, I know I havenāt been active in a while, but good-natured ribbing of other peopleās tastes was how Iād made half of my friends on this site. The other half from praising other peopleās tastes unnecessarily when they lined up with mine. Just trying to explain I wasnāt trying to sound like a jerk. If people roast my taste on a list or review in good spirit, I just laugh it off | someone

02.26.21 | Yeah but thatās easily the best!
Melt-Banana: āFFO: Lightning Bolt, Oxbow, Black Midiā - where did this come from? Oxbow are awesome but hmm not sure, Black Midi is a weird choice too.
Great band mind.

02.26.21 | the FFO section is more for the album. wrote up first associations i had that are popular/known around here because An Albatross is far from being sputcore | Demon of the Fall
02.26.21 | I see. Well I havenāt actually heard Charlie, so it might sound EXACTLY like an Oxbow/Black Midi record. Fair enough. | someone
02.26.21 | more like Black Midi on speed. the Oxbow reference is mostly due to both being abrasive and off-the-cuff, chaotic and noisy like hell. superficial comparison, i know, but i hear it there.

02.27.21 | at this point, i probably could explain what the heck am i even doing here:
so i asked around for recs of albums under 100 but above 50 votes and now that i have a proper long list, i can randomly pick a playlist out of it. the random picks are posted here in the thread (aka the list you see) and i am listening to them as i go and am inviting you to do the same. | someone

I don't like Flips, but love The Beatles and of Montreal, would I like The Divine Comedy? | someone
03.05.21 | it's like that of Montreal album, but cuter and the entire discography like that (pretty much if you made They Might Be Giants play of Montreal songs) | someone
03.05.21 | Also, and this may be of no merit to you, I found Divine Cody's work far from obnoxious, as opposed to of Montreal | Pangea
03.05.21 | Definitely get you on the sound off from 22 someone. Great song, but such a weird one in context of the album

I hope it goes well | Pikazilla
03.16.21 | Also, the 50-100 vote requirement made me realise that I have a ton of albums with 100-250 votes. Bad times. And whenever I think of something I like that's obscure, it ends up having less than 30 votes... | someone
03.16.21 | shelve those for now, i'll request them in a few months | Pikazilla

04.27.21 | it was produced by the great Curt Boettcher. Truly, a lost gem from the 60s, you could call it a Sunshine Pop masterpiece, but there's a lot of baroque, bossa nova and psychedelic influences with some of the best vocal harmonies out there. Turned to be one of my favorite albums from the 60s. And I really wish it got more attention here, cause it certainly deserves it. | someone
