07.27.21 | Sorry to hear.
One song that came to mind right away even though I haven't listened in a while is "Hallows or Horcruxes" by A Lot Like Birds. I don't know what it's about or anything, but it's a nice song. The ending is especially cathartic. |

07.27.21 | Hang in there. I went through a similar experience, losing my stepfather (had been in my life for 14 years, since I wasn’t even 10) and my grandfather within a month earlier this summer. Not sure how well my taste aligns with yours but some albums I went for in those early stages aside from general favorites were Sufjan Stevens - Carrie and Lowell, Death Cab For Cutie - Plans (especially the song “What Sarah Said”), and Mount Eerie - A Crow Looked at Me. If you’re just looking for songs you could easily go with just about any on the first and last one. The song “Nights That Won’t Happen” by Purple Mountains is also a heavy hitter. |

07.27.21 | Sorry for your loss man. I know my situation was less severe, but my cat that I’ve had for 15 years passed away a couple months ago, and when he died I listened to Talk Talk’s final two albums Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock back to back. With how sparse the compositions are, it made me feel at peace for the moment. Every note feels like an event, making you appreciate the power that even the most minor moments have. The lyrics are also devastating, particularly “I Believe in You” which is about Mark Hollis praying for his brother to kick his heroin addiction, who unfortunately died right after he released Spirit of Eden |

Check Cure for Pain by Morphine. |

07.27.21 | This song was written with the idea of honoring a lover who has passed, but I think most of it is just as applicable to honoring any lost loved one.
My condolences for your loss.
Sia - My Love

07.27.21 | Frightened Rabbit - Head Rolls Off helped me come to terms with my own impending demise as I'm sure it has others
Similarly, Way Yes - Holy Drop (https://wayyes.com/track/holy-drop) is a real comfort.
"What makes it so hard?
I'm losing my friends.
They drop one by one.
We all drop in the end.
I just hope I see you again."
Here's to your sweet old nan, mate |

07.28.21 | Akira Yamaoka - Dance with Night Wind
It's a melancholy track for sure, probably on the sad side. But I find it to be beautiful, one of my favorites. If you need uplifting, rather than (at best) cathartic, probably avoid this. |
