How to Balance

When I get into something, I tend to laser-focus that one thing for a while. Most of my younger years and teenage days were spent somewhat balanced though, I tended to enjoy all my hobbies on a surface levels - Reading, music, and video games. From 2011, I got bored of games and books and I got extremely seriously into music more so than ever before, and became pretty obsessed with seeking out new music daily and consuming hundreds of new bands and records a year. But for the past two years, as I took a step back from my internet usage and online presence, my music obsession took a step back as well. To facilitate that obsession, I got back into games again - so the last two years I have mostly been hyper obsessed with playing new games, collecting old games, playing all the genres I can and trying to understand them deeply, pretty much exactly as I was with music. When I get into something I like to try and become a quasi-expert in it, often failing. But thing is, I miss music. I miss being extremely plugged in to underground forums and musicians to find the latest obscure metal tapes and exploring my passion for anything weird and experimental on the fringes of music in general. Instead of regularly buying new tapes and checking out new albums, I've only kept up with my absolute favourite bands and bought maybe 5-6 albums per year, as opposed to per week. On the video game side, I've been buying like...2-10 games a week, and as they're wholly more time consuming, I find myself with a massive backlog of games from tonnes of genres I'm interested in that I'll never have time to play. Same goes with books - I've been trying to get into more books because I miss reading a new book every week. So now I've been ordering a lot of books and still struggle to find time to balance finances and time to invest into all three hobbies. I can essentially only afford one at a time, which is annoying. How do people on here find balance, if you have multiple hobbies? List is digs.
1Grave Circles
Tome I

Literally only started looking for new music today. This tape kicks ass.

Games I've been playing a lot:

Monster Hunter World
Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate
Apex Legends
Super Mario Maker 2
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night
Tales of Berseria
3Jefre Cantu-Ledesma
On The Echoing Green

Been listening to this guy a lot when writing over the past few months. I know purists hate his new style but I prefer it over his early work.
Beyond the Mortal Gate

Games in my backlog:

Final Fantasy 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13, 15
Lost Odyssey
Resonance of Fate
Last Remnant
Tales of Vesperia
Samurai Shodown
Persona 5
Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR-
Pillars of Eternity II - Deadfire
Pathfinder: Kingmaker
Bayonetta 2
Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
Wasteland 2
5Nucleus (USA-IL)

Been sleeping on this one, I loved their first album so much and KNEW this was coming out but still just haven't gotten around to it. Downloaded it today and gonna buy the CD soon.
6Necromantic Worship
Spirit of the Entrance unto Death

Games I'm anticipating this year:

Collection of Mana
Astral Chain
Gears 5
Monster Hunter World: Iceborne
Link's Awakening
Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 for Switch
Planescape: Torment for Switch
Icewind Dale for Switch
Neverwinter Nights for Switch
Outer Worlds
Luigi's Mansion 3
Death Stranding
Pokemon Sword & Shield
7Eggs of Gomorrh / Sarinvomit
Encomium of Depraved Instincts

I don't know Eggs of Gomorrh, but I like Sarinvomit so I hope this split kills
8The Mountain Goats
In League With Dragons

As much as I do enjoy this album, I feel it's their weakest in a long time. Hasn't grown on me into an instant-classic like their last few have. Cadaver Sniffing Dog fucking rules tho
9Tim Hecker

Haven't heard this yet but Konoyo was incredible.
10Falls of Rauros
Patterns in Mythology

Games I'm on the fence about anticipating:

Star_Wars: Jedi - Fallen; Order
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (reboot)
Old Star

Books lined up for reading:

The Revenant by Michael Punke
Berserk by Kentaro Miura
Gweilo by Martin Booth
Omensetter's Look by William H. Gass
The Sound and the Fury by William Faulkner
Empire of the Summer Moon by S.C. Gwynne
Dark Benedictions by Walter M. Miller Jr
Galapagos by Kurt Vonnegut
Small Beauty by Jia Qing Wilson-Yang
