|Rec me 2010 Albums please|
So working through my decade top albums, and noticed 2010 was a bit of a gap year for me, i had a big international move, and didn't listen to much. Please recommend me albums i missed from 2010. The below list is albums i scored greater than 4 that year. In no particular order.
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
|2||Smoke Or Fire|
Darkness, Oh Hell
|4||None More Black|
|7||The Naked and Famous|
Passive Me, Aggressive You
Not Like This
The Longest EP
|11||Bliss N Eso|
Running On Air
Crooks & Lovers
We Don't Stand A Chance
|16||Hail the Sun|
Pow! Right in the Kisser!
|17||Band of Horses|
Blue Sky Noise
|31||Motion City Soundtrack|
My Dinosaur Life
|33||The Wonder Years|
Romance Is Boring
This Is Happening
rec, themightyscoop. Trifolium
3, it was ok, but would not listen to it again, not my scene.
2.5, not really my jam.
|37||The Dillinger Escape Plan|
rec, themightyscoop. anarchistfish, eclipseinyoureyes
4, bumped up from 3.5
Écailles De Lune
rec, themightyscoop, Trifolium
4.25, This is one i did listen to quite a bit, but forgot about, listening to it again today brought back good memories.
Heavy Metal Fruit
rec,budgie, & dewinged
rec, trifolium, dewinged
3.5, had some good tracks on this, and some generic blah ones, need to listen more.
4.2, this is a good indie rock album, with strong songs.
3, could neve get into Flying Lotus. Almost to much going on without cohesion. There are some good tracks on here though.
There is Love in You
4.2, this is really beautiful, glitchy tingly and great for office work.
|49||Savath y Savalas|
Righteous Fists of Harmony
Move Of Ten
Nothing Is Certain
Where Did The Night Fall
rec, Agentdeathbat, anarchistfish
3.5, had some interesting songs, but I am pretty much over anything resembling metalcore, maybe if i listened to it when it first came out i would have enjoyed it more.
|61||The Tallest Man on Earth|
The Wild Hunt
Sir Lucious Left Foot
I Speak Because I Can
Messy, Isn't It?
rec, anarchistfish, eclipseinyoureyes
|68||Devil Sold His Soul|
Blessed & Cursed
All Our Kings Are Dead
|70||The Devil Wears Prada|
|72||Amia Venera Landscape|
The Long Procession
rec, anarchistfish, Dedes
I'm Not As Good At It As You
Circle the Wagons
|85||Dead Letter Circus|
This Is The Warning
Ominous Doctrines of the Perpetual Mystical...
|87||Horn of the Rhino|
Weight of Coronation
3.7, a good album, the vocals, and backing vocals don't quite mesh. the music is raw and sludgey, which I like, just need to get the band some vocal lessons.
Marrow of the Spirit
2.4, one Deadmau5 song is fun, but a whole album of them is torture. Bro-step is one of the shortest living genres to get popular, and this is for a reason, it is lame.
NASA: The Mixtape
|91||An Autumn For Crippled Children|
|92||Cold Body Radiation|
The Great White Emptiness
The Age of Adz
Rec, calmrose, slex
Currently a 3.5, and remaining that way. If anything I'm tempted to drop this to a 3. Finding it less enjoyable and harder to get into then his other stuff.
How I Got Over
The Deadbrain Diaries
No Drum And Bass in the Jazz Room
|101||Four Year Strong|
Enemy of the World

|Have you ever checked out A Lot Like Birds? You have Hail the Sun on your list, so probably, but still. No Place is probably their best. |

2011 was better
|@Jadmin, yeah I've listened to their last 3 albums, just have not rated them yet, I'm still playing catch up. |
I really missed out in 2010, I've heard a track or 2 off a lot of these, but never had the time or space to listen to them.
2010 was still my mp3 days, I have over a terabyte of music on hard drives, and that year i was without my computer for half of it.
|Daughters - Daughters|
Hidden Orchestra - Night Walks
Well yeah, otherwise I can just back up letlive, Dillinger and Deftones.
|Funny, I'm going through the same year now. Currrently in May (I selected 10 albums per month and went from there). Some things I can recommend:|
Shining (NOR) - Blackjazz
Lazerhawk - Redline
Jaga Jazzist - One-Armed Bandit
Balmorhea - Constellations
Massive Attack - Heligoland
Susanne Sundfor - The Brothel
The Bamboos - 4
S (now Jenn Champion) - I'm Not As Good At It As...
Darkthrone - Circle the Wagons
Kayo Dot - Coyote
Pendulum - Immersion
Dead Letter Circus - This is the Warning
Sorry if I repeated anything that's been said already!
|dewi also recommends memoryhouse - the years ep (it's his favorite album)|
|Amia Venera Landscape-The Long Procession (absolutely cathartic post metal/post hardcore. Near 5 for me.)|
Inquisition-Ominous Doctrines of the Perpetual Mystical Macrocosm (ripping bm with droning throat chants, is a 5 for me.)
Horn of the Rhino-Weight of Coronation (super bluesy epic yet melancholic doom that slaps).
|Sweet, this is exactly what i was after, thanks again, just made a mega 2010 playlist. I'll add them to the list soon. Feel free to listen and comment on the albums i ranked highly in 2010.|
|definitely a good year for music, esp 22|
agalloch's was probably my overall favorite followed by deadmau5
|Not much hip hop or punk on this list. Can anyone add to these genres??|
|SpaceGhostPurrp - NASA|
|An Autumn for Crippled Children - Lost|
Cold Body Radiation - The Great White Emptiness
|Spaceghostpurrp, sounds like a cocktail a mumble rapper would order. I'll give it a listen though. |
|Sufjan Stevens - The Age of Adz|
Dark Time Sunshine - Vessel (hip-hop)
|Very noticeably missing Age of Adz|
Edit: lmao damn we said that at like the exact same time
|"sounds like a cocktail a mumble rapper would order."|
LMFAO you just made my day
|For hip hop maybe The Roots - How I Got Over|
For punk... the closest I can think is that Darkthrone album I told you but is pretty crusty.
Spit Syndicate - Exile
Tornts - The Deadbrain Diaries
Dialectrix - Audio Projectile
|I listened to age of adz a few times, it's currently a 3.5 for me, but I'll spin it again and see if it resonates more. |
Yeah i am finding it hard to find any good hip hop or punk, from 2010 i hadn't already heard. It probably exists, just need some outstanding sputuser to unearth it for me.
|Coast is on his A game, well done son.|
|Cheers, some aussie ones + Briggs, Illy. Also, OFWGKTA, Ghostface Killah and EARL S had releases.|
|I noticed no one has rated briggs here yet, Australia's best kept "Ice cube sounding-indigenous brother" secret. The Bliss n Eso album release in 2010 was stellar. |
|Kvelertak - bm/hardcore/rock'n'roll|
Clever Girl - math rock
Ghost (SWE) - doomy hard rock
Four Year Strong - easycore (hell yeah those were good dayz)
|I'm late to hip hop and on a binge. Lots of quality aussie artists too.|
|Yeah Briggs looks and sounds like Ice Cube.|
|If you haven't already check out Seth Sentry, Phrase and Joelistics. Great aussie rappers.|
|Only briefly sampled Seth S and Phrase, didn’t know Joelistics thanks.|
|Overkill - Ironbound |
