| Need a new way to find new music
Need a new obsession. Help a sloth out. | 1 | | STOMACH BOOK STOMACH BOOK
So for the last few years I've been able to dig deep in the depths of new releases on Spotify of virtually unknown bands of all the genres I love by using a website. Everynoise.com. The website would list every release for that week by genre, that I would have never heard of otherwise. Unfortunately the gentleman behind the creation lost his job at Spotify, so therefore will not be able to update the website. | 2 | | Stuck Out Here Until We're Each Someone Else
Every Friday I would spend a couple of hours scrolling through all the new releases and add an album or EP to a playlist for further in depth listening. The playlist ended up with at least 20 releases a week, with 80% not in the Sputnik database. I would then add them to the Sput database, I've added over 2200 releases in the 5 years I've been active here. | 3 | | Fear Not Ourselves Alone DEAD DOG PARADISE (OR LIFE LIKE PARASITES?)
Many of my discoveries and database additions, have become favourites here with all of you chumps. I apologise in advance for not being able to follow through this coming year | 4 | | Endless, Nameless Living Without
There is an outcry from people like me who used this website weekly.

everynoise.com is an invaluable exploration of Spotify genres, and the only place to see complete Friday releases with genre cross-references. Without it, much new music goes unheard.
The Spotify employee, glenn mcdonald, who maintained this was let go in recent round of layoffs.
Everynoise is no longer getting data feeds (beyond basic api) and New Releases may not happen.
Please make everynoise functions supported. I would prioritize New Releases | |

01.08.24 | List is just 5 of my top discoveries from the site.
Here is the creator's webpage explaining things. https://furia.com/ | Mort.
01.08.24 | damn that sucks | Tundra
01.08.24 | Just started using everynoise in the past couple years, sucks that this happened to the guy | Dewinged
01.08.24 | That really sucks. Especially because it's the first time I hear about everynoise and it would have been so useful. I hope Glenn lands on his feet and finds a new gig soon though. | dedex
01.08.24 | sucks mega hard | AsleepInTheBack
01.08.24 | Damn wish id known about this before big rips | AsleepInTheBack
01.08.24 | What other sources do peeps use to keep on top of new releases? I’ve never found a reliable/comprehensive source. Album of the Year and RYM and sputs own weekly entries are what I’ve dipped in an out of. | dedex
01.08.24 | AOTY, RYM, and Sput as well - won't be very helpful, im a retrospective fella and I often miss releases by a couple of weeks lol | Azazzel
01.08.24 | cool site, he links this one at the bottom 'Discover Quickly' dunno if any good https://discoverquickly.com/
as far as contemporary releases I only really care about a handful of metal genres which is easy enough to keep up with through specialized subgenre blogs and rym charts, writers, name recognition, shreddit tracker https://releasetracker.shredditcord.com/#/
the inefficiency is part of the hobby fun, like a scavenger hunt (: | Azazzel
01.08.24 | holy based blogpost from the laid off guy

01.08.24 | Just follow my new ratings, fam | SlothcoreSam
01.08.24 | Thanks all, well continue the never-ending quest to discover the next "Brand New" with your suggestions. | anode
01.08.24 | what about finding music from the past say 30 years? i know theres so much good stuff im missing but feels way too tedious to sift through. i usually just find peoples accounts on here that have similar interests and go through their 5s but idk doesnt seem the best | Hyperion1001
01.08.24 | rym is the best music discovery database on the internet. make an account and rate your favorite albums and you’ll get your own discovery page plus tons of lists and a great chart system where you can create lists by year/genre/descriptor etc. | SlothcoreSam

This guy explains it well. | SlothcoreSam
01.08.24 | I find RYM to be a great tool to discover music retroactivity. But not as good as finding new music.
It takes someone else discovering the album and adding it to their database, then having numerous people find that album and rate it as well.
When using Everynoise.com I was finding albums the day they were released, with many not being in the RYM database at that stage. It might have been weeks before they were entered into their database, if at all, and possibly by people like me who discovered them on everynoise.com.
The thrill of finding a great new album on release date, is not the same as the joy of discovering a classic album on ratings databases. | Hyperion1001
01.08.24 | that’s a fair point. there is a feature that notifies you that artists you have rated are releasing a new album, but obviously it only works if it’s announced and someone adds it to the db
i frequently use the “best of x year so far” lists to find find new stuff but i also don’t care if im a few weeks late hearing it. | Spec
01.08.24 | Sucks I’d never heard of the site until now when it’s too late. | botb
01.08.24 | Never heard of it but seems cool, what a bummer | anode
01.09.24 | Thanks Hyperion will give it a go |
