Neurosis Ranked

greatest sludge band of all time
11Neurosis
Honor Found in Decay

I was bored listening to this. Their previous more ambient-leaning records still had subtle nuances to make things interesting. This unfortunately failed at that.
10Neurosis
Pain of Mind

while ya, this record kind of sucks, it still is definitely somewhat engaging as it as an extremely raw and angry punk record.
9Neurosis
Fires Within Fires

while their newest record isn't exactly progressing their sound, it certainly delivers the crushing riffing and soundscapes their early 2000s stuff did, which is ay okay in my book.
8Neurosis
The Word as Law

the better of the 2 punk records they made. Super sludgy yet also very fast paced with some incredible musicianship displayed here as well.
7Neurosis
Enemy of the Sun

This is an awesome record with signature raw production and heavy riffing, but it just so happens that its sandwiched between 2 groundbreaking albums. still highly recommended.
6Neurosis
A Sun That Never Sets

probably their most ambient and introspective record and incredibly emotional. Definitely gotta be in the right mood to throw this on, but once I do, its very easy to get lost in.
5Neurosis
Given to the Rising

A bit of a return to their older face-pummeling sound of the mid 90s, and it is done oh so incredibly well. Probably their 2nd heaviest album.
4Neurosis
Souls at Zero

pitch perfect blend of their hardcore roots with the sludge sound they began experimenting with in the early 90s.
3Neurosis
The Eye of Every Storm

Their best post-2000 record. Follows the more atmospheric approach that began with Times of Grace
2Neurosis
Through Silver in Blood

one of the most earth-shattering records ever made. probably shares the 1 spot with TOG. if you haven't heard anything by this band, check out the track Purify. It is the quintessential Neurosis song.
1Neurosis
Times of Grace

combined the heaviness of their previous record with more atmosphere and creative composition and mixes the two perfectly. With Albini on production, this new sound they found was fully realized and ended the 90s with perhaps the greatest metal album of the decade.
