It's just so damn addictive.
dedex 02.07.20	Eh, I have trouble seeing Possessed as a straight up dm band, I feel like they mostly connected thrash and what would be known as death metal. I kinda put them in the same category as MC5: they greatly helped the creation of a genre (punk/dm) but I can't categorize them as being punk or death metal. @Demon: will do whenever this cray cray backlog starts shrinking
Demon of the Fall 02.07.20	Maybe we should start using 'first wave DM' similar to BM (or post-rock), that would never get annoying. The early incarnations of many genres are like hybrids of what came before and what will eventually be, at the time Possessed were around they satisfied the criteria imo.

"1 literally invented death metal" < If you're making a list solely based on enjoyment, being a pioneer shouldn't be a factor imo. Possessed didn't invent dm either, they were one its pioneers but definitely not the only one. Death was writing music long before Seven Churches came out. Ironically, Death had a demo called 'Death by Metal' in 1984, the same year as Possessed's 'death metal' demo. Other bands also helped pioneer dm as well as shape it into its own genre, so I don't think it's fair to give all the credit to one band.
