After releasing his excellent 2005 Def Jux album Hell's Winter, Cage released the rock-influenced followup Depart From Me in 2009. However, the album was spotty, offering up some solid tracks mixed with cornier tracks to mixed success. One of the problems is that Cage released his EP I Never Knew You and two Depart From Me bonus songs at the same time, which featured some stronger material than what appeared on the album proper. This is a rearranged tracklisting using those left-off songs that I think is a more worthy successor to Hell's Winter.
Songs omitted: Beat Kids (subject matter done better on Too Heavy For Cherubs from Hell's Winter), Teenage Hands (corny), Strain (corny), I Never Knew You (faux-edgy, dreary)
