05.01.22 | Nah dude, Frontierer vocalist kicks ass. He adds that spark that makes the songs explode even more. |

05.01.22 | I can't agree at all with 1. Simply put, songs like "Bombtrack," "Bullet in the Head," and "Freedom" would not be as effective without Zack's rapping. Maybe not as technically accomplished of a rapper as, say, Chuck D, but a hell of a vocalist regardless.
I also understand your gripes with Mustaine, despite my enjoyment of early '90s Megadeth, though I still love Rust in Peace, and consider it one of the finest metal albums of the '90s (certainly my favorite metal album of the first two years of the decade, maybe even my favorite thrash metal album of the entire '90s).
The other three I either haven't heard (Frontierer) or don't care about (Mayhem, At the Drive-In), but as far as my own picks, I'd go with Judas Priest's Painkiller. Certainly not bad musically, but Jesus H. -- Rob Halford's vocals on that album are flat out grating. I wouldn't call them adenoidal because I'm not sure that's a completely accurate description, but it's like he's using every muscle in his body to sing at the highest volume and pitch he possibly can, to the point where it's absolutely painful to listen to. |

05.01.22 | Agree hard with 1. Faux anti-establishment lyrics are always cringeworthy. Funk-metal in general is usually always ruined by the vocalist, unless the vocalist is Mike Patton |
Casavir
05.01.22 | I don't agree with Rust in Peace. Mustaine's vocals weren't even bad at that point. On top of that, he put a lot of work into the vocal lines. Also, if anything's pathetic, it's getting filtered by Attila on De Mysteriis. That's an all-time best for extreme metal of any type. |
Koris
05.01.22 | Funny enough, I think Cedric's vocals are way more tolerable in ATDI than they are on Mars Volta. Maybe it's the more hardcore edge he puts in his voice with ATDI, but I think he suits the music perfectly on Relationship of Command |
Casavir
05.01.22 | I think Cedric's vocals are great a lot of the time but yeah, this is the first I've ever seen people complain about him on an ATDI album. |
Koris
05.01.22 | And yeah, 2 is pretty funny as well. Of allllllll the Megadeth albums he could have chosen, it's Rust in Peace? Dave's vocals were perfectly serviceable there, and any rough parts are drowned out by the kickass riffs anyway
Even the remaster, which I know gets some flack for the vox, is still not nearly as bad as Dave has sounded elsewhere |
ArsMoriendi
05.02.22 | Pretty sure Rage would have 0 fans without vocals
