07.07.18 | 1-6 are examples of stuff I used to primarily use when I absolutely needed blood-pumping music. Using stuff I simply liked a lot at the time never worked. Then about a month or so ago, I found out I can now get a great lift in even with music I just really enjoy at the time, as long as it still has some energy to it. For example, I’ve loved 8 since it first came out, but could never actually lift while listening to it until about a month ago. 7-9 are examples of stuff I’ve used lately.
Anybody else ever have this occur to them? |
JustJoe.

07.07.18 | I pretty much just listen to whatever album is currently in my rotation |
SymbolicInTime
07.07.18 | No judging here haha. A friend of mine was using Hall & Oates for deadlifts a few weeks back |

07.07.18 | 8 is good for running imo usually when i'm doing lifts I play exclusively sludge metal tho |

07.07.18 | well firstly i don't always listen to music when working out. sometimes its just fun to relax (especially if i'm doing something outside where there's not loud music like in the gym). if i go to the gym than i'll say that about 90% of the time i'll jam death metal probably |
SymbolicInTime
07.07.18 | Man I can’t get myself to even move if I don’t have music blaring in my ears lol |
SitruK6
07.07.18 | its a different experience. while i find music to help motivation, i definitely feel that my muscle mind connection and just general focus and posture is much better without music.
oh and just to be clear when i said 90% of the time i jam death metal, i meant when i do decide to listen to music. |

07.07.18 | I used to blast heavy shit all the time (Meshuggah got me from scrawny to brawny passing 700lbs deadlifts), but after 14 years of lifting I listen to whatever and depending on the mood maybe I listen to nothing and just focus on every rep. I got techno/house jams that get me going now, better for background and focus for me atm. |
SitruK6
07.07.18 | what kind of techno/house albums do you jam? |
Cygnatti
07.07.18 | trap |

07.07.18 | @SitruK6 interesting. Makes senses, honestly. My problem is I have no attention span or focus without music. My mind wanders too much without it. But I’ve always been that way. I’ve needed it to effectively study from middle school through college, to write essays, to lift decently, everything lol. I’m jealous of your ability to do nothing but focus on the gains though haha |
SitruK6
07.07.18 | well it didn't happen in a day. i had to do it for a few months to get used to not wandering off into my random thoughts.
Also i still to this day can't read one page from a book without music. Idk why but i just can't |

07.07.18 | like which styles of techno/house or which albums do I push steel with?
I'm cycling around stuff from Iliad Tapes and stuff from KiNK at the moment |
bloc
07.07.18 | I simply just listen to music I like, while still limiting it to genres that have some degree of rhythm. It doesn't need to be DJUN DJUN DJUN all the time, although there's plenty of that on my playlist. There are some artists that simply don't work with me in the gym but it's just a matter of trial of error and seeing what fits. |
Keyblade
07.07.18 | u need some DMX and flockaveli in ur life |
Drifter
07.07.18 | [2] |
SymbolicInTime
07.07.18 | @Keyblade I got dmx, just don’t spin any full albums while lifting. I was sticking with full albums I spin. And I prefer flockaveli 1.5 to 1 |
butcherboy
07.07.18 | check gymmy hendrix..
|
Keyblade
07.07.18 | nah no need to spin full albums, that's what playlists are for. or, alternatively Where The Hood At on repeat |
SteakByrnes
07.07.18 | I usually just jam whatever I'm into at the time |
SymbolicInTime
07.07.18 | @Key I have playlists too. I just was sticking with full albums I like to use just for the purpose of this list bruh haha. Where the hood at is on my playlist tho fam |
