Dreamed this list last night, as well as fixing up a lake fishing boat to go deep sea fishing. I don’t fish though.. A fairly inconsequential list, but will add it in. | | 1 |  | Slipknot
Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses
Slipknot, as a band, seems to fit Corey Taylor’s vocal styles and ranges better than any of his other projects. You get his characteristic harsh vocals (best in Iowa, All Hope is Gone), soaring clean vocals, and everything else in between. Even rapped vocals (Slipknot album) and send/return type vocals (in Vol 3). He just seems to fit in Slipknot impeccably - nothing's awkward. | | 2 |  | Stone Sour
House of Gold and Bones - Part 1
Stone Sour seems to pander more to Corey Taylor's clean vocals. But at the same time, some of my favorite Stone Sour songs include Corey's harsh vocals - Get Inside and 30-30-150. Stone Sour is not only a hard rock band - they also deal in metal, as can be seen on both the HOGAB albums, and some of the recent b-sides on Hydrograd. So Stone Sour comes in at a close second to Slipknot, relative to the use of Corey Taylor's vocal range, but is just not as dynamic. | | 3 |  | Soulfly

Guest spots on vocals. Was surprised to read the other day that Jumpsfuckup is the highest selling track by Soulfly ever. But it is a strong dose of Corey’s early vocal style thrown in. Similarly, there are some other great songs that Corey Taylor has contributed to - for example Requiem by Snot (Strait Up) and A Different World by Korn (The Serenity of Suffering). | | 4 |  | Corey Taylor

Solo. Let me say first that I dig this album, from time to time. It's not my immediate goto if I want to hear some Corey Taylor, but better than most make it out to be. For example, love some HYW 666, The Maria Fire, Black Eyes Blue, and...well...CMFT Must Be Stopped. The latter is just fun. But Corey Taylor and his band just doesn't seem to always fit. Not that the band is in any way inadequate - it's just that his vocal stylings are so limited here. | | 5 |  | Roadrunner United

Collaborations. The Rich Man is a good track - but Corey Taylor and the supporting musicians are not a perfect Mix. Sound City: Real to Reel - From Can to Can't is another good example of a track with good intentions - but Corey Taylor and his supporting cast (Dave Grohl, Rick Nielson, Scott Reeder) just don't mesh. | |
