| My Top 5 Favorite Grindcore Albums
Five grindcore albums that I find to be excellent examples of what this extreme genre has to offer. | 1 | | Insect Warfare World Extermination
This album is exactly what the genre should sound like, plain and simple. Endlessly brutal riffs with some of the most technical and killer drumming this genre has ever produced. | 2 | | Discordance Axis The Inalienable Dreamless
This album defies typical grindcore aesthetics, while all the while still being just as insane and potentially "scary" as any other album in the genre. All of the instrumentation on this album is razor sharp and precise, while still maintaining the brutality and heaviness of any other album, despite not even having a bass player. | 3 | | Pig Destroyer Prowler in the Yard
Unlike #2 on my list, this album's artwork and song titles fall exactly within the parameters of what you'd expect from a musical genre so shocking and intense. And, just like #2 as well, one of my favorite things about this album are the lyrics. While that's usually not the case for extreme music in general, Prowler in the Yard has some of the most beautifully demented words I have EVER read. Highly influential and always entertaining, this album could have been #1 on my list. | 4 | | Terrorizer World Downfall
Terrorizer dropped one of the first grindcore albums ever, even though this album could arguably be considered "deathgrind." This album truly does follow "traditional" grindcore aesthetics, staying true to the genres political and typically left-wing themes. For people who are possibly trying to transition from death metal to grind, this album would be a decent place to start, along with #3. | 5 | | Assuck Misery Index
Perhaps the most unknown album on my list, this album is just as deserving as every other album on this list. Similar to World Downfall, this album is very political, and perhaps most aptly referred to as "deathgrind." If you've heard the other albums on this list but haven't gotten around to checking out Misery Index, then i highly suggest you listen to this album ASAP. | |

Anatomy is Destiny
Extreme Conditions Demand Extreme Responses
Mondo Medicale
but i think the upper echelon of grind is altogether very similar in quality and hard to rank | Assemblage
03.17.18 | 2 is one of my favorites of all time | Assemblage
03.17.18 | How do you feel about Wormrot "Dirge"? | SadistikEyedeas
03.21.18 | @Risodo As much as I love Rotten Sound, Exit just doesn’t have the same magic as the 5 in my list. For my personal taste of course. | SadistikEyedeas
03.21.18 | @Assemblage Wormrot is one of my favorite current grind bands. I do think Voices or Abuse are probably my favorites by them. I find the fact that they are from Singapore to make them even more interesting and extreme. | Doctuses
03.28.18 | would take out 4 and replace with Brutal Truth's Need to Control | Doctuses
03.28.18 | and agreed about Exit, it's a BANGER but still not as good as teh others |
