The grand Horna ranking
Focusing on the LPs and on the better EPs.
LP - 2.5
"LP" - 3.0
Good for once.
LP - 3.0
After the very impressive debut LP, this felt too light.
Askel Lähempänä Saatanaa
LP - 3.5
If the first half would as strong as the second it would deserve a much better rating. Simply just takes it too long to "warm up".
EP - 3.5
Yeah, this is very solid.
LP - 4.0
That special early Darkthrone sound is most precious. Massive, early '90s styled black metal riffstorm.
LP - 4.0
Riffs, riffs, riffs... how the hell do they release so much high quality material??
EP - 4.0
Mid-tempo Horna songs are simply incredibly good and sound awesome.
LP - 4.0
Greatest example how much does a great vocalist mean. Spellgoth's output is impressive. A theatratical, yet straight-forward album.
LP - 4.5
Endless waves of melodic black metal riffs. The "cleanest production" in the band's discography. Quite long, but worths every minute.
Perimä Vihassa Ja Verikostossa
EP - 4.5
To be honest, this thing SHOCKED me how fantastic it is! More "epic" styled, incerdibly massive riff fest. The LoTR themed song is my favourite, very similar what Fenriz wrote for Isengard.
LP - 4.5
Punching riff-fest, interestingly contains many pretty long songs. Filled with raw energy, it was a simply fantastic straight-forward black metal release. Songs like the title-track take no prisoners.
Envaatnags Eflos Solf Esgantaavne
LP - 5.0
This easily in the same league with the best melodic BM bands like Satanic Warmaster for example. Top tier stuff. "Kirous Ja Malja" is easily among the greatest melodic BM songs ever.
It took me some time, but really worth it to dig deeper into their discography.
In terms of quality, I think they deserve much more attention.
felt this coming given how much of a crush you've been having :] will probably czech at least 1 and 3
2 is 1 for me but both are fuckin fantastic. Muinaisten Alttarilta on Sanojesi, for me, is what i want from aggro, breakneck black metal.
btw dude, if you want more Entvaatnags/Sanojesi vocalist times then I highly, highly recommend Korgonthurus. Same vocalist, and Vuohen Siunaus is almost perfect imo. Apparently they've got a new one this year too that I've gotta check.
[comment without context. hope you're having a great day [: ]
I hope so, Bedex!
Thanks Archie! Sanojesi is jus slightly behind Enaatnags, but both are "breakneck black metal" . Also thanks for the rec, I'll definitely check out Korgonthurus!
(And I'm wishing you the same! ;])
