Black metal and ambient digzz 7.
...in no particular order. Sharing is caring!
Slow And Heavy
May I introduce: DINO SYNTH! Yeah, for real: dungeon synth inspired by the Mesozoic Era. And this sounds awesome: ancient and enchanting.
My Skin Is Cold
As I said in my soundoff: "Extremly overlooked, and way better than the average score! Except of the title track, you can find great songs from different albums presenting some of the best songs from the band's discography. And 'Mother North' performed with a backup orchestra is unbeliveably amazing - best version EVER."
Evil meter: 4/5
Kingdom Of Erang
Beautiful dungeon synth. Not as cheesy as the cover would indicate. This is top quality stuff!! (Thanks Hawks for the rec!)
|4||Licht des Urteils|
An impressive raw black metal demo from Finland. In the steps of Horna, Satanic Warmaster, Behexen...
Man, those crushing riiiiiiiffs!
Evil meter: 4.5/5
In Old Chambers Of Castle Wewelsburg (Album)
Beautiful neoclassical / chiptune(?) dungeon synth album from Germany. Exciting and relaxing.
As I said in my soundoff: "Brilliant. Exciting blend of modern dungeon synth and synth music from the '90s. The atmosphere is uniquely sinister and magical - true dungeon music!"
Definitely one of the best dungeon synth releases this year.
Danish atmospheric black. The unusual mixing is very pleasing: the synths are very dominant, while the guitars sound very distant creating a dim atmosphere. I really liked this one.
Evil meter: 2/5
Awesome old-school style black metal demo: harsh, raw, and evil. Very similar to the early Darkthrone albums, especially the riiiiiiiiiffs!
Evil meter: 4.8/5
If you liked Devil Master, then I'm sure you would love this one too: 15 minutes of tasty and raw black punk music.
Album of the opposites: one time you hear beautiful dungeon synth harmonies, and the other time super raw black metal madness. Highly recommended for everyone who likes Paysage d'Hiver!
Evil meter: 3/5
August was a great month.
3 fuck yessss!!! Been meaning to check 9 too.
10 is that WORK. I've been meaning to add it to the db for awhile, glad that you did!
9 absolutely FUCKS. I will be checking of the others- got my eye on Dunjon Magik. Nice list.
Brandon check 3!
Your description of 10 makes me wanna listen to it man
1 too for that matter
might check 1
fucking hell yeah
Thanks guys! :]
@Hawks: Erang rules! m/ And you gotta hear 4 & 8 too.
@TheSpirit: Good music has to be shared! Btw, have you seen Demo I somewhere? The label on the "empty" BC page is nonexistent...but I want to hear it too!
@dbizzles: Agreed, 9 slaps! And ahhhh, Dunjon Magik is sooooo goooood! I wish I could have get my hands on the cassette...
@Bedex: I'm sure you would like 1 & 10 too! ;]
@dedex: Do it! 1 is super fan album. Who doesn't like dinosarus? Haha!
Fuck yeah. m/
the cover of 3 lol. but will check these dude
I'm such a sucker for stuff like 5. It reminds me of playing Wizards and Warriors on NES, and I don't know how.. but it just works.
"the cover of 3 lol" Haha, I was the same! But just as I started jamming it my jaws dropped.
And chiptune dungeon synth, if done right, is awesome. Next to 5, I can rec the project called "Moaning Shadows" too: another great chiptune/neoclassical.
Nice man! I got pretty deep into 5, but then it kinda got a little bit too much haha. Good stuff though. Jamming the new Moaning Shadows now, and I like what I'm hearing. I used to kinda hate Dungeon Synth, cause of the casio keyboards and synth strings and choirs and everything, but man I've really taken a strong liking to a lot of stuff over the past couple years. Cheers dude!
