2010
1Sabaton
Coat of Arms
2Iron Maiden
The Final Frontier

One of Maiden's weakest albums. Obviously, it's still an amazing album on its own. This is the proggiest they've ever been, and in my opinion, it is the longer, more complex, more atmospheric songs where the album shines the most. Anyway, great stuff, even though it pales when compared to the rest of Maiden's catalog.
3Avenged Sevenfold
Nightmare

Great album, one of their best. Lots of killers and even the fillers are good. An album of this quality is definitely an honorable tribute to The Rev.
4The Sword
Warp Riders

Not the most diverse album, but every song's a rocker and it really does give the illusion of embarking on an epic journey through space.
Being my (current) best album of 2010, this album marks the start of a new, awesome decade of music, and it's one hell of a start.
5Slash
Slash

This album has its ups and downs. You've got so many guest singers here - all of them are great, but since each has their own unique and different syle, not all of them mix well with Slash's, which is very unique in its own. (To be honest, most of them don't)
Still not a bad album I guess, but it really does feel like it's shooting too many arrows and only a few of them hit.
6Alter Bridge
AB III

A continuation of the previous album, it's not much different from it and, to be honest, it's also not much different from the albums to come in the future. I actually liked AB III a little bit more than Blackbird, but still, they're basically the same: pretty good albums made by amazing musician who are capable of much more than "pretty good".
7Accept
Blood of the Nations

This is how classic, old-school heavy metal should sound in the modern era. Production is top-notch, the riffs are heavy and strong, energies are high, and it sounds like the band is having genuine fun - and therefore, I am too. This is a great, GREAT album.
8Nevermore
The Obsidian Conspiracy

This band is weird. On the paper they've got everything to win me over: the riffs, the melodies, the atmosphere, the production, everything's good. But something just doesn't click for me - I'm not a fan of Dane's vocals, but it can't be just that. It's a good album I guess, and I love some of the songs here, but I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around the others.
9Overkill
Ironbound

Fantastic modern thrash album. Overkill's hit a jackpot with this reimagining of their sound and have made a killer record, with hit after hit after hit. One of the best of 2010.
10Haken
Aquarius

You can definitely feel this is their first album, they still haven't found their place quite just yet. But they did come very close and it's an amazing result for a first ever album. Ultimately this is unmistakably Haken and there are tons of great interesting stuff here that will further be explored in the albums to come. This album is not quite there yet but it is a VERY impressive debut nonetheless.
11Dukatalon
Saved By Fear

Super cool sludge-doom album.
12In Mourning
Monolith

Absolutely loved that one. This is how you do melodic, progressive death metal. Almost everything works here. Excellent!
13Airbourne
No Guts. No Glory.

Their first album brought nothing new, and this one brings even less - and I'm completely fine with that, since that's the intended result. Again we have an album that simply tries to be a new AC/DC album - nothing more, nothing less - and completely succeeds at that.
