01.03.21 My Top 25 Albums of 202004.11.17 Guilty Pleasures

My Top 25 Albums of 2020

Didn't want to spend too much time on this so I tried to be brief with the descriptions.
25Terrace Martin, Robert Glasper, 9th Wonder, & Kamasi Was
Dinner Party

It's exactly what I expected from such an amazing group of musicians.
24Boldy James and The Alchemist
The Price Of Tea In China

I like this album just a bit more than Manger on McNichols. Boldy James released so much stuff this year and all of it was pretty good.
23Westelaken
The Golden Days are Hard

I love that album cover.
22Imperial Triumphant
Alphaville

First album I hear from them but it absolutely slaps.
21Buckethead
Healing Inside Outside Every Side

It's a Buckethead album.
20Akhlys
Melinoe

Still haven't decided if I like this more than The Dreaming I.
19COMPACTdisc ステレオドラマ
愛している信じてる

Fairly standard vaporwave album but it has a specific vibe that just really stuck with me.
18Aesop Rock
Spirit World Field Guide

Like most of his albums it might end up growing on me a bit more.
17Caspian
On Circles

Caspian has yet to put out a bad album.
16Covet
technicolor

I hear some more post-rock influences here than on their past stuff and I love it.
15The Avalanches
We Will Always Love You

The shorter song legths made this one work for me. They know when to cut a song short and move on to the next one.
14Caligula's Horse
Rise Radiant

The Ascent is such a good song.
13Spectral Lore and Mare Cognitum
Wanderers: Astrology of the Nine

This could have been a bit shorter.
12Envy
The Fallen Crimson

Wasn't a huge fan of their last album but they really delivered this year.
11Neptunian Maximalism
Eons

This one was a rough listen but in the best way possible.
10Samsara Blues Experiment
End of Forever

Feels very cohesive and focused compared to the rest of their discography.
9Ichiko Aoba
Windswept Adan

Very different from her other stuff but I love it just as much.
8Motorpsycho
The All Is One

I've had mixed feelings about some of the other stuff I've heard from them in the past so I was hesitant to check this one out. I think it might be time to revisit their discog and see if I change my mind cause I loved this thing.
7$ilkmoney
Attack of the Future Shocked, Flesh Covered, Meatb

His flow can get a bit repetitive at times, but the beats, lyrics, and the aggressive delivery more than make up for it.
6Boris
NO

It's Boris. It's good.
5Mac Miller
Circles

This album feels super comforting to listen to. It's bittersweet knowing it's probably the last official release we'll get from him, but it also has this big sense of closure for me.
4Panzerfaust
The Suns of Perdition - Chapter II

Still haven't listened to Chapter I but this one is great.
3Run the Jewels
RTJ4

Didn't like ooh la la as a single so I was very surprised by how much I enjoyed this album. Ended up liking it more than RTJ2.
2Ulcerate
Stare Into Death and Be Still

By the time December started I thought it was too late in the year for anything to top this one. Glad I waited before doing this list.
1Kashiwa Daisuke
Program Music III

This one caught me off guard. I've enjoyed all his stuff but I didn't expect this to be almost as good as Program Music I.
