Nightwish Albums Ranked (Old)
8Nightwish
Angels Fall First

Easily their least consistent and memorable album to date. The guitar tone is... interesting, to say the least, and I'm glad that Tuomas quit singing.
7Nightwish
Wishmaster

I personally think that this album is worse than "Oceanborn" due to its greater emphasis on atmosphere and melody.
6Nightwish
Endless Forms Most Beautiful

Arguably their most polarizing album to date. It's not as good as most After Forever albums and ReVamp's "Wild Card", but still pretty enjoyable.
5Nightwish
Oceanborn

Abandoning the Folk Metal elements on "Angels Fall First" and experimenting with a more Power Metal-oriented sound was definitely a step in the right direction.
4Nightwish
Century Child

Some say this album has the best drumming of all Nightwish albums, and I can see why they say that. I also find the riffing and basslines to be superior to those on previous albums, and Tarja's vocals have more beauty and emotion this time around.
3Nightwish
Imaginaerum

One of my favorite concept albums. Listening to it is a pretty cinematic experience.
2Nightwish
Once

Their best selling album and breakthrough in the U.S. Some consider this to be the album where they "sold out", but I personally think that this the best album that they did with Tarja.
1Nightwish
Dark Passion Play

I personally think that this has the best instrumentation of all Nightwish albums (it's arguably their most riff based album and in my opinion, has their best riffs). It was also nice to hear nothing but non-operatic vocals from the main vocalist for a change.
