People in larger cities in the states you mentioned and in California as a whole will generally be kinder to foreign folks.

I just drove several thousand miles recently for a trip and easily spent upwards of $700 for gas, with a car with decent mileage. It'll be considerably expensive (by American standards) in California, or in sparser areas in the desert where you have fewer options to fill up Nightfall in those areas this time of year is generally past 8:00

Since we speak Italian, the Italian influence here is pretty strong, my parents used to love Italian music and I got into it by listening to their LPs (although I also listened to tons of Italian indie as a teen).
