04.09.24 | Erick Sermon - Insomnia: The Erick Sermon Compilation
Fave era will always be that early to mid 90s Grimy east coast sound I guess Nas/Wu/Big/Boot Camp,Onyx, Mobb deep, Blahzey,Jeru etc etc you know the drill but its also for the Memeber berrys being a young buck and hearing all that shit on like MTV and the like, being a metal head and getting into all that from across the pond and I guess cos it was still hard and confrontational so appealed but opened me up to like Snoop and the likes also. Films and Soundtracks from that time also like Menace to Society/Friday and those soundtracks. Think the Judgement night metal/hip hop cross over too was a massive for us skinny white kids with baggy jeans in UK trying to show how eclectic we were by dancing to that shit in rock clubs and such. Thank fk there where no camera phones.
Although the Rawkus then through Def Jux/Anticon late 90s early 2000s is of equal importance to me.
In fact call it a draw. Two great eras. |

04.09.24 | "It's a tired conversation of how much this site slacks on hip hop but let's just try to take one little step forward!"
This is true, sadly. Sputnikmusic lacks a lot of conversation and activity on genres that aren't Rock or Metal.
