I listened to every deftones album (without exception) for the first time to see if I should be hyped for this or not. Short answer: I AM VERY EXCITED!! |

Adrenaline
While adrenaline was certainly an impactful opening statement the songs were pretty samey. It’s a good record it just doesn’t really compare to the rest of their discog.

Gore
The latest release, while not bad, didn’t entirely grab me as much as the previous albums did. Maybe it was burnout from listening to them too much?

By the end of the 3rd track I thought this might be an insta five. That’s how strong this album started. It didn’t really keep that consistently, but it’s still a great release.

Around the Fur
PELASE PUT DOWN THE PITCHFORKS 2-5 ARE REALLY CLOSE! I thought this album was genuinely awesome! I think I just prefer their more experimental and atmospheric records but this one has some CERTIFIED BANGERS. Could see this one moving up in the future.

Saturday Night Wrist
I think what puts this beneath 3 are some of chino’s weird vocal inflections and the last minute of pink cellphone being lolbad. Apparently a good subsection of the fanbase and the band themselves don’t like this one. Shame.

Koi No Yokan
This album is beautiful. Chino’s delivery is on point, I enjoy the guitar tones, and the whole thing flows so well.

The only other album who’s soundscape is as varied and as successful as number 1 imo.

White Pony
Yeah this has the 4.4 average for a reason. Back to School is probably my least favorite on here truth be told. The rest of it was the definition of cutting edge.
