Thoughts on post-hardcore recs you gave me
Sorry I haven't listened to many of them yet. The process becomes a lot more time consuming when I end up listening to most of these band's entire discographies. This list may be overtly positive, but I really like what I was reced. ¯_(ツ)_/¯ |
1 | | Head Wound City Head Wound City
3/5
This "album" has 7 songs and clocks in at 9 minutes. One of those minutes has only guitar ringing, and another minute has really annoying gibberish that gave me a headache. Everything else that is here is great, but I was left unsatisfied. |
2 | | Sleep Weather Lake Joy
3.5/5
The singer sounds a lot like the singer for Toche Amore, just putting that out there. I really dig the chill vibes this album brings to the table, but it didn't wow me. |
3 | | Stolas Allomaternal
3.8/5
Really good album, but there are just bands I feel do this sound better. I still would recommend this to my fellow DGD fans. |
4 | | Bear vs. Shark Terrorhawk
4/5
It's got the really aggressive, in your face feel of the At the Drive-in album In/Casino/Out, and that's a compliment because I love In/Casino/Out. The singer has a perfect voice for the sound the band achieves. |
5 | | A Lot Like Birds Conversation Piece
4.5/5
The preformances ooze with technicality, the vocal preformances are outstanding, and I enjoy the spoken word stuff a lot as well. |
6 | | Refused The Shape of Punk to Come
4.5/5
I'm ashamed I haven't listened to this album before. This album is so visceral and fun to listen to it might just be illegal. |
7 | | Slint Spiderland
4.5/5
Simply put, the ambience and amtosphere of this album is absolutely masterful. |
8 | | Alexisonfire Alexisonfire
4.8/5
Hard to think about anything I dislike, which gives it such a high rating. The most notable positive is the killer screaming. |
9 | | Sianvar Stay Lost
4.8/5
Cons: The singer's voice may be annoying to some
Pros: The all star line up of Will Swan and A Lot Like Bird's rhythm section team up to deliver extremely technical, exetremely enjoyable instrumentals for 41 straight minutes. The choruses on this album are exceptional. |
10 | | Icarus the Owl Icarus the Owl
4.8/5
Every single pro and con of the previous entry translates to here (minus the all star line up). Every single song is perfectly crafted. |
11 | | A Lot Like Birds No Place
4.8/5
Every positive about Conversation Piece with the added bonus of amazing conceptual lyrics. The album is absent of choruses, but still manages to have several memorable moments. Only a matter of time until this becomes a 5. |
