Underrated 2018 indie/gazey/dreamy stuff

Some cool indie-ish albums released this year I think deserve more attention.
1Vansire
Angel Youth

I've been enjoying this record a lot lately, it's the perfect late-summer lo-fi dream pop. Has a lot of cool features as well, adding some hip hop influences that work surprisingly well.

best tracks: Star Catcher, Synth Man, Lonely Zone
2Chastity
Death Lust

Chastity has a subtly unique sound. At its core, this is 'one of those' grungy-shoegaze records, but the music often blurs the line between shoegaze, alternative rock and hardcore. As a result it's somewhat uneven at times, but the contrasts are genuinely intriguing.

best tracks: Children, Anoxia, Heaven Hell Anywhere Else
3Castlebeat
VHS

VHS is a dream pop record easy to dismiss due to the fact that every single song on this record sounds the exact same. However, once you get over that, this album is simply too pleasant to dislike. Besides that, the individual songs are hooky enough to create somewhat of a unique identity.

best tracks: idk all of them are equally solid. Tennis, I guess?
4Sobs
Telltale Signs

Sobs is absolutely adorable. 'Telltale Signs' is an extremely pleasant album to listen to, containing beautiful dream pop tracks in the vein of Alvvays and Fazerdaze.

best tracks: Party Song, Vacation
5Tancred
Nightstand

This album is so fucking good and I won't shut up about it until more people appreciate it. Fantastic indie rock with some gazey influences.

best tracks: Underwear, Just You, Rowing
6La Rose
Same Hell

Beautifully atmospheric shoegaze/post rock. The vocals are extremely low in the mix, which I always love and it works out really well here.

best tracks: Always the Same, Enthusiastic
7The Orielles
Silver Dollar Moment

'Silver Dollar Moment' is about as 'quirky' as a record can get. The sixties-infused album has all the bells and whistles imaginable, creating a very enjoyable listen.

best tracks: Let Your Dog Tooth Grow, Mango
8The Summer Kills
Last Night We Became Swans

Hammock + some singer with a great voice. It's as good as it should be.

best tracks: Summer Kills, Don't Go Away
