budgie 04.18.25	i really loved season 1 and 2 of the tv show, there's also a film length episode im guessing you already saw in season 2 but my top 4 still would be scream 1, scream 4, scream 2, scream 3 scream 4 is just underrated in general
Futures 04.18.25	1,2,5,4,3,6 for me. 2 is closer and closer to the og for me each rewatch. scream 4 is pretty great but i kind of hate the fake out ending at the hospital and the digital smear filter or whatever the fuck it truly almost ruins the movie. it looks horrendous.

budgie 04.18.25	season 1 and 2 of the show are fun if you treat it as a separate slasher franchise that just uses the branding. (which is what it is) season 3 i couldnt finish the first episode it was doggyyyy

BAT 04.18.25	aside from the third act of scream 6 : the scream franchise miiight be the most consistent slasher franchise of all time, even at it's worst the craftsmanship is still top notch. they're not my all time fav wes craven movies but i do think they're the most polished movies he ever made. and yeah scream4 has aged very well imo has anyone else seen the workprint for scream 3? it's kind of a tragedy how much they cut from that movie, the workprint feels like a 70s giallo mystery movie annnd feels like the studio just demanded they cut it into a retread of the first two. the leaked wp is after the reshoots to tone down the violence buut it's still an interesting recent development to pop up [i'd assume it's still on archive.org just look up like assembly cut or something.]
BAT 04.18.25	and the idea of scream with a more urban/city kid setup is an interesting concept but they made the most predictable, straightforward, nothrills knock off slasher movie than diced it up and released it as season 3. season 1&2 are formulaic and have a lot of teen drama, but they're charming and the cast grows on you.

CaliggyJack 04.18.25	I generally don't like Meta shit either but Scream gets away with it because it keeps the Meta stuff in-universe. As long as it isn't breaking the 4th Wall idc, I hate media that does that.
Futures 04.18.25	even without the meta stuff, you can really just take them as straight well made slashers with great characters. it's not like it's endless commentary. it's internally consistent.

BAT 04.19.25	waynes bros scary movies are classic, but the entire genre of parody movies are like some of the absolute stupidest shit ever released. walk hard is objectively like a top 5 contender. but yeah i don't even remember scary movie 4 lol, saw it in theaters and never gave it a rewatch. scary movie 1 [and scream for that matter] are within like the first 25 r-rated movies i'd seen as a kid so they're very nostalgic to me and likely fucked up my head, 2's got some banger bits but a lot of the pop culture jokes in that are a 'you had to be there' type of thing[the nike basketball commercial bit for example.] sm3 was surprisingly decent despite going pg13 and switching creators, buuut honestly most of the zucker bros stuff past naked gun has aged poorly for me...especially baseketball lol
