Vercetti 03.01.23	Haven't heard of The Mummy (1959). Is it really that good? I remember watching the one from the 1930s (the one with Boris Karloff) and thinking that it's kind of boring. I personally don't categorize zombie films like Train to Busan or Dawn of the Dead as 'supernatural horror' as I see them more as a horror version of post-apocalyptic science fiction. But I like the list. Good and interesting picks. I also like that it's a nice mixture of new and old films.
CaliggyJack 03.01.23	Supernatural is generally just something beyond the laws of the natural. So stuff like Sci-fi and zombies counts towards said tag imho.

porcupinetheater 03.01.23	Hereditary is overrated tbh Incredible as a disturbing family drama but the last 20 minutes seem not to understand what made most of the movie work so well beforehand and it just dies on the table. One of the most frustrating endings to a great movie I’ve seen

porcupinetheater 03.01.23	I see you, idk just felt like Toni Collette’s grief vacillating between love and hatred for own son was the most interesting and toughest dynamic in the movie, and turning her into the supernatural monster felt like it leaked all the harrowing dramatic momentum onto the concrete and only resolved the heart of the story in the most banal “horror cliche” sense
MillionDead 03.01.23	Yeah, the reason that Hereditary isn't a perfect movie to me is the fact that it turned into another demonic possession cliche in the end. Still, the good parts of it are too good to ignore. Also, the quality inconsistency in this list is wild. Miss me with the jumpscare fests.

MillionDead 03.01.23	Straight up. The Conjuring sucks. Also, as important as Argento is to the horror aesthetic, I feel Suspiria was pretty shallow movie with some cool shots here and there. Not much in terms of plot, just some style. I think the remake was better, despite not being amazing either.

combustion07 03.01.23	Damn budgie your list just made me realize I blanked on a bunch of stuff lol. It's so hard to narrow these categories down for me because I love the genre so damn much. I'd at least have to make room for Evil Dead and The Blob. Probably for Return And maybe Demons also. Also dope to see someone else showing Tombs some love! The first two films in that series have an insane atmosphere to them and I love it so much. Also Grave Robbers deserves an honorable mention here. Amazing Mexican horror flick that's way too slept on.

combustion07 03.02.23	I haven't watched The Wailing yet but I've been meaning to for awhile. I saw Banshee Chapter a long time ago but I wasn't really in the mood for that kind of thing when I watched it so I probably didn't get as much of it as I would have otherwise. Gonna have to revisit it
TalonsOfFire 03.03.23	There is so much overlap between supernatural horror and psychological that it doesn’t make sense to separate the two, unless for some reason one wanted to highlight psychological horror movies that have nothing supernatural going on. Also it’s debatable but I don’t consider Jaws, Jurassic Park, The Birds, Aliens, Prometheus, or Pan’s Labyrinth as horror. That being said, my overall top 20 horror movies would be: 1. Psycho 2. John Carpenter’s The Thing 3. The Witch 4. Annihilation 5. The Exorcist 6. Alien 7. The Shining 8. Let the Right One in (best vampire film) 9. 28 Days Later (best zombie film) 10. In the Mouth of Madness 11. Rosemary’s Baby 12. Suspiria (2018) 13. The Wailing 14. February (The Blackcoat’s Daughter) 15. Midsommar 16. The Wicker Man 17. Doctor Sleep dir. cut 18. Hereditary 19. John Carpenter’s Halloween 20. Bride of Frankenstein Some runner-ups are Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992), The Omen, and Night of the Living Dead.
combustion07 03.03.23	Since I did the one per director rule it was stupid hard for me to choose between The Thing and On the Mouth of Madness for Carpenter. Not gonna lie Prince of Darkness would make my list too otherwise. I love Let the Right One In so damn much, I bought the book a few years ago and have been meaning to dive into it. Nice to see some Doctor Sleep love also. Probably the best movie I've ever seen in theaters

TalonsOfFire 03.03.23	Yeah Mouth of Madness and Doctor Sleep are so underrated. The Witch is amazing, quite an experience seeing it for the first time and it felt like a modern horror movie made just for me and my sensibilities. A24 is indeed ruling 21st century horror.

combustion07 03.03.23	I forgot about I Am a Ghost when I was thinking supernatural stuff also. I'd definitely recommend checking it out too. Really cool idea executed well imo. It won't be for everyone but I think some of you would probably enjoy it a lot
