09.25.15 Top 7 Influential Albums

Top 7 Influential Albums

The albums that influenced my passion for the genre.
1Parkway Drive
Killing with a Smile

Parkway Drive was my favourite band for a long time. They were consistent in creating solid albums until their release of "Ire". I stumbled across this album when it was the only one they had produced. Parkway is Metalcore at it's best.
2Lamb of God
Ashes of the Wake

We all know LOG, whether you are a fan or not, any type of metal fan can appreciate these guys. Ashes of the Wake was probably my most listened to album throughout my high-school days and made a huge impact on the direction my taste for metal took. After everything Randy Blythe has been through, shout out to VII: Sturm und Drang; another solid album.
3As I Lay Dying
Frail Words Collapse

It's a shame what happened to this band. Tim Lambesis why did you have to fuck everything up for the rest of us? That aside they were at the top of Metalcore for years, and produced some killer albums. Jordan Mancino is an amazing drummer and was always a pleasure to watch live. Frail Words Collapse was raw with emotion and will leave it's mark for years to come.
4Killswitch Engage
The End of Heartache

The End of Heartache, another emotional album. You can't listen to "Rose of Sharyn" and not become completely lost in it. Killswitch is a rare anomaly in which when they switched up vocalist (twice) never lost their edge. Jesse Leach is back and still killing it. Thank you Howard Jones for being a part of this amazing album.
5All That Remains
This Darkened Heart

I came across All That Remains when I first heard them on MTV2 Headbangers Ball, Vol. 2 track "The Deepest Gray". I was just starting to get into metal at this time, and All That Remains stood out. This is when I realized the style of vocals I was drawn too. It wasn't until many many many years later that I realized it was "Metalcore".
6Emmure
Goodbye to the Gallows

Oh Emmure... such a hated band. I think all the hate just adds to my love for them. I can understand why musicians pick apart these guys but it's not really about the instrumental talent now is it? It's about the raw fucked up lyrics that come out of Frankie's mouth, and the breakdowns. I can't help but laugh (no pun-intended) at certain lyrics, and when you are angry nothing beats their vibe. Emmure is almost like a metal version of a rapper and Frankie has the personality to suit. I LOVED this album and still do and I am still a fan of Emmure.
7From Autumn To Ashes
Too Bad You're Beautiful

I can't even remember how I came across FATA... I think I purchased this CD on a whim and it just stuck with me. They will forever be one of those bands I missed out on seeing live.
