Sputnik: 7.8/10 -too much metal

The beginning of this summer was full of exciting releases of all sorts of genres and I loved coming to the site to read reviews and discussions. But lately, maybe the past month or so, it seems like 80% of the featured content and music-based discussion (I'm omitting things like Pokemon and soccer) have revolved around metal. I'm admittedly new here so maybe this is just what the slow music season looks like. I am, however, aware of this community's emphasis on select areas such as emo genres and metal genres so seeing little on folk or pop music isn't distressing. But it is somewhat off-putting to see almost exclusively metal, which is great for those who enjoy that music (and please don't execute me for using 'metal' all-inclusively; I have no vocabulary on its subgenres or whatever), but not so great for someone like me who enjoys other music much more. It's almost certain that I'm overreacting and the landscape will look very different in a couple weeks. But for now, since I don't have much to say about all those bands I can hardly pronounce, I thought I'd maybe pose this topic as food for thought.
