09.13.15 | You should really watch a movie called The Vanishing (1988), it's creepy and disturbing.
Also a few:
Peeping Tom
The Tenant
Jacob's Ladder
The Devil's Backbone
Jigoku |
72haha72
09.13.15 | Also:
Carnival of Souls
A Tale of Two Sisters (avoid the remake, called The Uninvited, it's LAME)
The Wicker Man
Blue Velvet (not really a horror movie, but a really exciting thriller by the same guy who made Eraserhead)
Sisters (1973)
Rosemary's Baby
White Dog
The Skin I Live In
Most of the movies I mentioned aren't as popular as some of the movies other people are recommending in this thread. I recommend you to check these ones out if you're interested in the horror genre 8-) |

The Vanishing's absolutely outstanding, but it's always struck me more as a thriller/drama than a horror per se (although the situation itself is fucking horrifying to contemplate afterwards). |

09.19.15 | if you liked Texas Chain Saw you would probably like all the slashers it inspired. A lot of them are super lame, and that makes them funny, but they're usually pretty cool and fun. Things like Halloween (a must-see classic), Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream, Urban Legend (whole series is hilariously awful), etc.
John Carpenter's The Thing
Evil Dead series
Re-Animator
first 3 of George A. Romero's "Dead" films (& The Return of the Living Dead which isn't Romero but it's kind of related? idk I was never sure how, but it is a great film)

09.21.15 | Oculus and It Follows are both fun.. Or there's Devil's Pass and The Taking of Deborah Logan. Both Netflix-able found-footage types you won't hate yourself for watching. |
