alexk ranks metallica

i've made like a half dozen metallica lists, BUT NEVER THIS ONE. after nearly seven long years, THE WAIT IS OVER. THE MOST HIGHLY ANTICIPATED LIST IN SPUTNIKMUSIC.COM HISTORY IS HERE.
St. Anger

not even that bad tbh just way too long. i made my own edited version that cut about 3-5 minutes from each track and made it way more digestible, but you can't rank it anywhere else in its original state

half greatness half bullshit
Hardwired...To Self-Destruct

if this was only first disc + spit out the bone this would move up quite a few spots… but there half an hour of the most mid metallica material ever on the second disc and I can't forgive that. also loses points for being two discs for no reason. also loses points for the terribad cover art
72 Seasons

solid late career addition to the discog... lacks the highs of its predecessor but is actually good all the way through and therefore ranks higher

in a lot of ways this is my least favorite metallica album… by far the least interesting thing they ever did in fact, but I can't put it any lower than this because it is a competent well put together album
Death Magnetic

lots of bangers, but absolutely terrible production holds it back, also very long
Kill 'Em All

no remorse, no regrets, we don't give a fuck what it meant.

yes this is better than kill em all, yes metallica was still good in the late 90s, cry more... garage inc. would prob go about here as well in terms of quality
Ride the Lightning

only third because of escape, top 3 is nearly interchangeable
Master of Puppets

prob the objective best BUT THIS RANKING IS FROM THE HEART
...And Justice for All

you can blame this album for why I am on this site
