Lord(e)Po)))ts
03.05.20 | might as well just cut your own dick off |
TabulaRasa6
03.05.20 | The most surprising thing to me is how low "Epoch" is. |
theacademy
03.05.20 | hardest fuckin feature of all time |
TabulaRasa6
03.05.20 | Nvm, I have a lot more problems with this list, but it's your opinion, man. Lol |
AlexKzillion
03.05.20 | I want all the smoke |
butt.
03.05.20 | Satellites, Buttersnips, and Froggin Bullfish are way too low! But this is a sweet list idea lol I'm surprised I haven't already done it. good shit |
TabulaRasa6
03.05.20 | "I want all the smoke"
Well, for starters, nothing from Clear should be above the 40th place.
And "MAKE TOTAL DESTROY" as number one is just something I personally heavily disagree with because while it has a great instrumental, it's one of the many Bulb songs that have a really awkward and overdone vocal performance from Spencer.
...Like the dude doesn't shut up for 90% of the song. |
TabulaRasa6
03.05.20 | Also, what butt. said, especially about "Satellites". |
butt.
03.05.20 | yeah that song always makes me feel like they probably had to take a week off playing music after finishing it. It's like mentally and emotionally exhausting |
AlexKzillion
03.05.20 | I definitely like Satellites but it'd be dishonest of me to put it any higher than that. Like I pretty much never listen to it outside of when I listen to P4 entirely.
Buttersnips is good but I don't really have any emotional weight behind it. Cool if it comes on but I'm never itching to hear it (as with the majority of P1 songs).
Never liked Froggin Bullfish tho. There's something so melodramatic about it |
AlexKzillion
03.05.20 | Also realizing I forgot to put Racecar on the list, though I'd prob put it around the mid 50s or so. |
butt.
03.05.20 | oh damn you fucked up son |
BAT
03.05.20 | the walk at 57? try the pre-spencer versions that shits pivotal |
AlexKzillion
03.05.20 | Miss me with the Clear slander every track on that ep is a banger
And Spencer's overdone vocal performance is one of my fave parts of make total destroy. Like all the low gutteral screams everywhere (especially in the first minute or so) are so fucking goofy and I love them. That sense of "fun" clashing with all the chaos and aggression is like the epitome of Periphery imo. |
AlexKzillion
03.05.20 | "...Like the dude doesn't shut up for 90% of the song."
Pretty much how I feel about the Walk. Especially the Spencer version cause his screams just aren't that great just yet. |
TabulaRasa6
03.05.20 | "Miss me with the Clear slander every track on that ep is a banger"
I'm not saying it's horrible, but as a personal opinion, I think it's the least impressive thing they've ever done. Not bad, just not really better than most of their discog.
"Pretty much how I feel about the Walk."
That's fair. I have a lot of nostalgia for that track and love the instrumental, but the vocals are definitely not as developed as "Make Total Destroy". I'd put "Make..." higher than "The Walk" too, though Casey and Chris did that song better. |
el_newg
03.05.20 | list is invalid you forgot Ragtime Dandies |
BenThatsMyJamin
03.05.20 | Reptile >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lune |
BenThatsMyJamin
03.05.20 | In fact reptile is just objectively their best song, no question. Compositionally nothing comes close. Scarlet IS a classic though |
botb
03.05.20 | The best periphery song isn’t even on here lmao |
butt.
03.05.20 | which one? racecar? |
AlexKzillion
03.05.20 | Ooo I missed Light as well... that ones prob 35-40 range
The Chris Barreto version of The Walk might be a bit better than Spencer’s... but Spencer’s version of Light is like x1000 better than Barreto’s.
Hate that I can’t really add those in |
onionbubs
03.05.20 | didnt expect to see lune that high sick always really dug that one. reptiles my 1 but 1 is not far behind good shit |
JS19
03.05.20 | I took some time away from commenting on this site and the first thing I saw when I came back was this list oh yeah that's why I left lol |
butt.
03.05.20 | damn I just voted for you yesterday too. Vote REVOKED |

03.05.20 | racecar deserves more justice!!!!! |
Tundra
03.05.20 | but periphery is a bad band. |
veninblazer
03.05.20 | Make Total Destroy at #1, yet its literally their worst song lol |
SteakByrnes
03.05.20 | 49 is my favorite that I've heard, not a big fan of these guys tho |
Tundra
03.05.20 | Yup dunno why you'd listen to these guys when Meshuggah exist??? |
veninblazer
03.05.20 | Meshuggah are these guys without the emotion |
AlexKzillion
03.05.20 | ^^^ |
Tundra
03.05.20 | this type of genre isn't really my cup of tea anyways but from what I heard Meshuggah are better for sure |
butt.
03.05.20 | yeah periphery is way better than Meshuggah. Better musicianship, more interesting songwriting, good balance of heavy and melodic, I really can't believe this is a hot take.
Detractors' responses rarely go beyond "well well well uhhh meshuggah did the chuggy chug thing BETTUR and they did it FURST" |
Tundra
03.05.20 | nay |
supremejelly
03.05.20 | The rest of Periphery's discog > Lune |
BeyondCosby
03.05.20 | "Satellites" and "Sentient Glow" are way too low on this. |
TabulaRasa6
03.05.20 | "Meshuggah are these guys without the emotion"
As much as I love Meshuggah, what does that even mean? Meshuggah have one emotion. Lol |
butt.
03.05.20 | he's saying periphery has emotion, mesh doesnt |
AmericanFlagAsh
03.05.20 | Fiona Apple's Periphery >>>> |
SymbolicInTime
03.05.20 | Masamune >>>>>> every other periphery song |
TabulaRasa6
03.06.20 | "he's saying periphery has emotion, mesh doesnt"
Sorry, I was half-asleep when I read that. I thought he was saying Meshuggah had emotion over Periphery. That's why it shocked me, but I was stupid. Lol |
SgtShock
03.06.20 | For me, Satellites and Lune are killer tracks that just go on way too long. It’s kinda like that feeling when you’re improv jamming and everything’s great but it goes on a while and you’re just sorta waiting for the rest of the band to wrap it all up. Like, every time you reach the end of a section and you think it’s gonna end they keep it going. |
Emim
03.08.20 | I didn't know anyone listened to all of their songs |
OwMySnauze
03.08.20 | Yikes.... |

03.08.20 | If yall thought this one was dumb, my next “every song ranked” list about to be a real doozy |

03.09.20 | I did see this band with my bud once though and I actually liked them so |

03.09.20 | maybe the djent was inside me all along |

03.09.20 | Absolomb is 1 |
butt.
03.09.20 | imagine thinking periphery is " " " "dumb" " " " |
GhandhiLion
03.09.20 | big dumb |
AlexKzillion
03.09.20 | I prob underrate absolomb a bit but I’ve never felt like it’s one of their greatest achievements like a lot of others do. |
butt.
03.09.20 | Priestess and Hell Below are too low my friend |
TabulaRasa6
03.10.20 | "Priestess and Hell Below are too low my friend"
I agree, but I can see how they might not be his thing. If it were my list, they'd be higher. Plus, despite "Hell Below" being heavy as hell, it's not as instrumentally interesting as a lot of his top picks. |
bgillesp
03.12.20 | My heart is broken by how low my favs are |
bgillesp
03.12.20 | 22 faces is 1 |
BenThatsMyJamin
03.12.20 | Remain indoors should be way higher |
AlexKzillion
03.12.20 | I’d probably have it a bit higher if I made the list today
It’s the one Periphery song I can play on guitar from beginning to end pretty proficiently |
BenThatsMyJamin
03.12.20 | The bridge is a bit annoying but its got such a fun riff and spencers vocals kill |
bigweinerdon
03.12.20 | Pretty awful list. No way Scarlet and Lune are 2 and 3. Feed The Ground should be in the 70's ffs |
AlexKzillion
03.12.20 | Counterpoint:
