"Vitamin"
I mean I'm literally wearing my Tago Mago shirt right now. What do you think I'll rate this? Great drums, great emotion, catchy hook, good bass. It's just great 70s psychedelic rock in every way. Ege Bamyasi may be my least favorite of the 3 Damo albums, but that's not saying much since they're all essentials. 10.11.22 | 11. Kill Them All - They know how to write death metal lyrics. Now they have to figure out how to sound like death metal instead of a punk band whose members are half asleep. Oh, but the song is still okay - 3.0 |
Minushuman24
10.11.22 | Possessed - The Exorcist - I am a sucker for the intro, even if it is a bit on the nose. I actually have never paid too much attention to this band, though I quite enjoy the sparseness of the vocals, and I like it more than anything else that I have heard from these guys. Still very dorky but that's sort of the thing with these guys. Good fun. 3.4
Can - Vitamin C - Another artist I still have been sleeping on a bit too much. It is always so shocking to me just how ahead of their time Can is. I don't even think this qualifies as timeless because it sounds like it must have come out at least 20 years after it was released. An incredible jam right here. 4.2
Death - Evil Dead - It's been a while since I have jammed this, I forgot how NWOBHM it is. Pretty damn fun it is, but it does not touch my favorite early Death songs. 3.2
Diamanda Galas - I Wake Up and I See the Face of the Devil - Yep this is definitely Diamanda. The "What time is it" section is actually really funny, and that is actually really disappointing, that's the last thing I want to feel when hearing her preform. There's still some excellent parts of this, her screams are chilling, when she stops doing the "conversation" passages, it is particularly effective. The outro stretch is some excellent material. 3.4
Oxbow - Sawmill - This one is great fun. Weird, fun, a slight bit of creepiness. Reminds me of a more experimental Cows. Would jam again. That bass rips right through me. 3.6

10.12.22 | 12. Zao - Weird noises followed by slow, ominous guitar. Very repetitive. Eventually speeds up a little. 3.0 |
Mort.
10.12.22 | yeah its the closer for the album but its spooky so i thought fuck it
think the dialogue and sound effects are from the film Event Horizon |
fogza
10.13.22 | 13. Metal Church: The Dark - Ok, I disagree that this song is spooky. He's singing about evil in the house and stuff but that doesn't automatically make it scary. Maybe it's spooky in the way Casper the ghost is spooky. Maybe. Positives: No kick drum abuse and I'll take the shred vocals over the cookie monster thing. 2.7 |

10.13.22 | 13. Metal Church - Fast, heavy guitar. Yikes! What's with the vocals? 2.4 |

10.13.22 | 12. Man in Cage Jack Wilson – Nice, slow song that would really make a good soundtrack for a horror flick – 3.5
13. The Dark – The vocals really remind me of Accept (Udo Dirkschneider). And the music also sounds like what it is: A heavy metal song from the 80s – 3.0 |

3.5/5
"Cry Little Sister"
Sounds like soft 80s industrial/goth comparable to Depeche Mode. A little cheesier though.
3.1/5
"Kill Them All"

10.17.22 | 16. Mort Garson : Swingin' Spathiphyllums - do people actually listen to this stuff? The comments on YT are pretty sad. 10.17.22 | 17. Chelsea Wolfe: Pale on Pale - Only know one album from Chelsea, and it was pretty good. I'm impressed by this track, definitely gotta listen to a bit more. It has that primitive modern blues reading vibe that I got from PJ Harvey's Rid of me, and while it's not as groundbreaking as that record was, it still has that... something. 4.2 |

10.26.22 | Bloodletting (The Vampire Song) - Concrete Blondes - Goth rock Patti Smith, rad. Nice stomping buttrock riff, fun chorus. It's corny and I quite like it. 3.6
Cheepnis - Frank Zappa - Very Ars here. I like the prelude quite a bit. I adore cheap trash horror. The song itself is quite fun as well. Frupnoculax Lives. 3.5
Exuma - Mama Loi, Papa Loi - Is this another Ars rec, I was expecting to thrash, instead I got really good folk music. This rules a lot I will definitely be having this one on rotation. 3.9
Cry Little Sister - Gerard McMann - I don't know why I haven't seen this movie yet. I wasn't expecting actual lyrics for an OST but that is kinda fun. This sounds like spooky Phil Colins lmao. The angst and dramatics are dripping from his voice and those synths. Which from everything I know of the film makes sense. It is very silly, but I like it enough. 3.1
Kill Them All - Brainbombs - Love the opening. Love the noise rock. Sloth is a blood brother who will never let me down. This rules, and should have been in a Return of the Living Dead sequel. Ugly, Disgusting, a tad bit silly. That's 90's noise brotha. 3.8
Man in Cage Jack Wilson - Zao - A nice building interlude track from a great album. 3.0
The Dark - Metal Church - I wish I still liked this style of metal music. It is no doubt fun and would be a blast in a group of people. 2.9
Suspiria - Goblin - The title track for one of my all time favorite horror movies. It's pretty sublime. I am usually not a fan of rock music within an atmospheric OST, and it is far from my favorite thing here, but I cannot help but adore this entire track. Tubular Bells level iconic. 4.3
Spirits are Coming - Sadistik Exekution - Overdramatic as fuck, but I like it as a fun bit of spooky music. 3.2 |

10.26.22 | Swingin' Spathiphyllums - Mort Garson - Wasn't quite expecting this, it is a nice lil swirling track. 3.0
Pale on Pale - Chelsea Wolfe - Infinite respect to her and her music. Very dark, very drony, and a definite mood setter. 3.9
Rat - Penelope Scott - This is like electronic folk punk. or I guess Kimya Dawson. It is a bit overlong, which is a problem for this sorta music, but it is cute, def not spooky-- Unless you take into account the existential dread it can bring. 3.0
Say the Name - clipping. - This entire album is a straight up October hip-hop classic and this is one of the stand-outs. Addicting as all fuck. I don't really know what to say about this song, i just love it to pieces. 4.6
Hardrock Halloween - Acid Witch - Thank fuck it is not actually just hard rock. Not a huge fan of the vox, but it is very dumb in a pretty good way, so points to that. Don't think I would listen to this much, I think a little bit more of a spooky atmosphere for this idea to make it onto the Halloween playlist. 3.1
Outlive - OLD - NOT what I was expecting. Groovy industrial grind, that is pretty fuckin rad. 3.6
Witchwood - Strawbs - Well that was certainly a folk song. It was pretty alright I suppose. 2.9
The Serpent - Mykur - The crunchiness of the riffs are kinda weird with a song like this. Love the vocals though. I think I would have loved this if it weren't for the guitars in this one, maybe if they took a more abstract approach. 3.5
Satan is Real - Kreator - Lots of thrashy old metal bands huh, this is already a lot more melodic than I would have expected. This song is incredibly dorky, but that is like the MO for thrash. Historically these guys were my favorite of the German thrash bands and this is at least better than Destruction. Silly, very silly chorus. Holy fucking balls this song is way to god damn long. 2.5
TD 3 - Merzbow - aight let's get weird. I love and respect Merzbow, but god damn I do not want to listen to his music, it's a mess. This one weirdly enough has something of a structure. It is weirdly more melodic than I feel like his work usually is. I like it, the laughs in the background are an excellent touch. Nice. 3.3 |

10.31.22 | I'm going third rec to finish off this sucker, fuck it.
3rd rec:
VAST - Dirty Hole
Is Jon Crosby the Moby of gothic-lite alternative? Or is Moby the Jon Crosby of commercial floor filler sampling? This one always used to get the weekend goths up and dancing at my local.

10.31.22 | 31. Slow intro, a little sour. Picks up a few minutes in. Not really doing much for me. 2.8 |

11.05.22 | 26. TD3 – Brrrrr Iiiiiiieeeeeh Rrrrrrr – 2.5
27. House-On-Fah - Silly and not very fun[2] – 2.5
28. Serious Shit – The ‘ho’ at the end of ‘Serious shit, no playin', ho’ makes me take it less seriously. Okay song, but the chorus is really bad – 3.0
29. Allison Gross – Cool song. If I will ever have a folk rock phase, that’s the stuff I’ll be listening to – 3.5
30. Ghuleh / Zombie Queen – I like how it speeds up in the middle. Ghost always works for a horror theme – 3.5
31. Dirty Hole – Good song, but I think they should have shortened it a bit – 3.5 |
