01.08.15 | They've been one of my favorites since Alphabets came out. Such a fun band to follow for all these years. I just bought the new pressing of "Bad Luck" on vinyl.
Bad Luck>Holy Vacants>Darkness>Alphabets>NBND>Goodnight>Hospital>Darts |

01.08.15 | I listened to the shit out of Hospital Music for like two years straight so I think I've come to get slightly bored with it, same with Goodnight Alchemy. I feel my opinions of Holy Vacants will possibly change over time, but I'm still loving that shit. And Bad Luck is one of those personal-saved-my-life-bullshit albums, y'know |

01.08.15 | I think that some of the musical passages and Jerry's lyrics can be very dull and boring imo. I feel like it should have been a full LP, so it could flesh out more conceptually and musically. |

01.08.15 | Holy Vacants is still best but Darkness, Oh Hell comes close. |

01.08.15 | vacants>darkness>nbnd>badluck>the rest is interchangeable. lyrics on nbnd were among the best. the lyrics always fantastic though if you go into it knowing the band is obviously self-aware of their own b-movie-meets-highbrow-intellectual-concepts (DOH is a twin peaks themed concept record, so uh, yeah they get it). it's like watching a tarantino flick. if you're taking it too seriously at first, you're not enjoying the art to it's full potential. don't get me wrong, there's a wealth of beauty beneath the surface, but it seems to only be revealed through multiple listens. the band is clearly having fun making these records. and it is a spectacle to behold. their approach to making a record is actually quite refreshing and innovative.
DOH is a bad piece of music? hospital was better? when you grow up past your angsty teens maybe give it another listen.
pretty sure that darkness and nbnd will be released as a 2x vinyl/single package deal to round it off as a complete LP with august 1980 included in the tracklisting. not sure when the band intends to release said package. it was mentioned not too long ago through their facebook. |

01.08.15 | darkness and nbnd i like equally. like alll music it depends on my mood which i prefer to listen to. darkness is scary and intense while nbnd is elegant and fun. together they make a very well rounded display of art. darkness seems to appeal more to people rooted in heavier music as nbnd is more for the psychedelic, indie rock people. both records are moody as fuck though! |

01.08.15 | chin! - check out nick cave and the bad seeds! jerry has said he was heavily influenced by them so i gave em a listen and now i love them. the lyrics do the same thing - cheesy on paper, but a perfect match to the character cave is creating in his stories throughout the song. start with let love in, murder ballads, and dig lazarus dig! you'll see a lot of parallels musically and lyrically. they're like trophy scars' dad haha.
when people don't get the lyrics i think it's funny because they are often times taking them out of context and acting like the song is about jones himself. as if he is running around the country killing angels and haunting houses lol. jones even said listening to his records was supposed to be like watching a b-movie on acid. he mentions in several interviews how big of an influence david lynch is on his art too, and i feel like he does similar things on screen. |

01.08.15 | also have you heard jones' other band super snake? i think they have a full length coming out this year and it's easily one of my most anticipated albums. |
