Blood and Thunder (ofc) and maybe Ahab a few times. On Naked Burn atm and this rips, wish I'd gotten into it during my Blood Mountain phase. Seabeast through Iron Tusk is very yes
Just got through Aqua Dementia. Holy shit. This album's Capillarian Crest. Loving how the heaviest parts of the bridge are also the ones that lean the most on blues. Here we go for Hearts Alive...
Actually most of Call of the Mastodon ended up lower than I would have liked but their other full album songs are such stiff competition (and more well known) I had to shorthand their impact.
But I'm thinking it should at least be above OMRTS title track.
Crusher Destroyer, Blood and Thunder, Stargazm, The Motherload, Roots Remain, Octopus Has No Friends, All the Heavy Lifting, Mother Puncher, Curl of the Burl, High Road.
Yeah, it's my b because I usually don't give a lot of love to the second half of Remission.
Looking back at a few of these, some of my picks are cringe and butchery, but this kind of stuff is all about location, location, location, of one's headspace at the time. Lol.
I'mma stick to my guns on 3, but 4 and 5 are there because of the sheer fan reception and the general clout those songs carry on Crack the Skye as a whole. I'd probably switch both of those out for Divinations and Oblivion, as those are more favorited by me on that album.
I hear you Doof, BM is my favorite Masto album. I recently saw an old live performance where they premiered Circle of Cysquatch for the first time and over half of the song was straight instrumental, but it fucking ripped and gave me even more appreciation for it for how it got fleshed out in the studio.
It's crazy what a year could do. I've listened to this band since 2005 and if I made this list now (excluding H&G) it would look rather different, I think.
Nah it's all good evil, it's what we make these lists for! The feedback XD.
The amount of times I've listened to Shadows That Move and Welcoming War..... absurd. I can't even listen to them once either, once I play them they have to repeat several times. Those would have to be closer to the 30's. I would also raise Creature Lives despite the amount of grated cheese on that track.
The Bit is straight up the best Mastodon song not by Mastodon. It's crazy how their music has followed that pattern all throughout their career.
