Steelbath Suicide

No such thing as a bad Soilwork album, there are many strong track like sadistic lullaby and wings of domain, the main problem is the lack of personality, in fact this sounds too much like at the gates.

Sworn to a Great Divide

When i first heard stagd i hated it, it growed on me with time, while the production isn't perfect due to muzzled guitar sound and some tracks are bland, there are some brutal others such as Pittsburgh syndrome and as the sleeper awakes and intense vocal performances like exile's chorus makes this album good.

Death Resonance

You recognize an awesome band when their collection of B-sides and bonus tracks is better than most albums out there, actually some of their best tracks are b-sides such as the powerful Helsinki and these absent eyes, i'm happy to find whenever thorns may grow here, an awesome "power ballad" cutted from Stabbing the drama.

Stabbing the Drama

The first lp to feature Dirk as a drummer and their first approach to metalcore. Good production and great vocal performance as always. While the melodies are awesome, the solos could be better. While Nerve is their absolute worst song ever, there are lots of highlights, distance is maybe the best track of the album, blind eye halo and stalemate could be some of their heaviest ever

Verkligheten

Soilwork managed to blend the speed of their previous 3 works (arrival, when the universe spoke) with 80s vibes (stalfagel, witan). A nice throwback experiment. While there are a pair of fillers, most of the album is more than worthy

The Panic Broadcast

The best from their metalcore era. Bjorn's vocal approach is a little different, the growls are "cleaner" amd more high pitched, while the clean chorus are catchier than ever (two lives of worth reckoning). A nice amount of thrashy tracks such as king of threshold and late for the kill (which features some of the best drumming ever from Dirk). Atmospherical tracks like Akuma afterglow gives the lp much more variety, nice solos too.

Figure Number Five

Soilwork's turn to alternative metal has been controversial, many of you will not agree about this pick but imo this is pretty underrated. While the overall sound is softer, every single song is memorable, the choruses are se of their catchiest ever, Distortion sleep is easily top 5 for me. There are emotional moments such as departure plan and cranking the sirens, the keyboards fits perfectly, lyrics are great and the whole album is undeniably fun

The Chainheart Machine

A huge step from their debut, while the heaviness it's the same, they improved their sound with a personal touch, Wichers guitar melodies and solos are out of this world, the aggressive screamed vocals fits perfectly and Ranta's relentless drumming is delightful. Generation speedkill and the title track are among their best ever, spirit of the future suns gives the album a more atmospheric touch
4Soilwork
A Predator's Portrait

The band's introduction to atmospheric keyboards and short deep clean vocal parts that helps to create an overall dark vibe to the album (title track, shadowchild) without changing the aggressive approach of their first 2 worls (grand failure anthem, bastard chain). A perfect bridge from older style to the new one

The Living Infinite

One of the most legendary melodeath works ever, this double cd is like a long journey through nordic seas, it makes you feel like you're on top of the world. The new guitarists style and virtuosity made the atmospheres epic, Dirk confirms himself as one of the fastest and most technical drummers ever (leech, spectrum of eternity). Bjorn's vocals are top notch, changing from aggressively heay growls to angelic cleans, a perfect balance between raw melodeath (tongue) and peaceful moments (windswept mercy, antidotes in passing)
2Soilwork
Natural Born Chaos

The album that got me into Soilwork, completely different atmosphere from the previous work, NBK is based more on a ethereal aura, combining it perfectly to raw melodeath sound. There is space for groovy death tracks such as follow the hollow to melancholic atmospheres such as the Majestic Song of the damned. While the keyboards in predator's portrait were merely for atmosphere building, here are better fused with guitar melodies. Bjorn's vocals goes from deep to high growls and the melancholic clean chorus are perfectly harmonized (flameout, as we speak)

The Ride Majestic

My favorite melodeath album ever. The concept is fantastic, it's like we re listening to the apocalypse, while there are destructive moments there is also space for hope. The end end of the world described both as something terrible and majestic. Bjorn's vocal range is absurd, his growls are fantastic and the cleans are perfect, Dirk's a beast and the guitar work is outstanding. Brutal tracks like the phantom and alight in the aftermath are alternated to sad moments (death in general and the epic closing track). They managed to combine heaviness with majesty (pun intended) and emotion such as aspire angelic, petrichor by sulphur and the epic enemies in fidelity
