Cats are independent. there are even studies that showcase how detached cats are from their owners compared to dogs. Dogs will hide behind their masters or defend them when threatened. if you are holding your cat when its scared it will fucking tear u up to get away and go find a tree, it does not find you a source of comfort. at the end of the day cats are independent creatures, even further stressed by the fact that they domesticated themselves for the sake of convenience rather than us domesticating them. they started warming up to humans to use us for food when their sources were thinning. now with breeding and such there are definitely some stupid fucking cats out there but cats are still like 5000x more likely to survive on their own than dogs.

In each case one cat would clearly select one human it most loved/respected. The first time the two cats in the house hated each other and the young cat only liked my gf at the time, the other cat became obsessed with me and every morning I'd wake up to her nuzzling my armpit. The cat would get all its grooming/stroking/playing from me and the situation was exactly the same with my gf and the other cat. When me and my gf split she offered me the cat a few months later but I couldn't have her in a rental place. She told me in the end the cat got so depressed she sent it to a new owner. When my family had a dog she could be sent to stay with other family members/friends, etc. Cats would not deal with that, and not just for territorial reasons.

Cat owners think its acceptable to have cats crap in litter trays in the kitchen or wherever. Plus the parasite problem for men, pregnant women and babies...it ain't great at all tbh A lot of dogs don't lick or slobber, choose the right species and don't encourage it I guess. If you live with a dog alone then it'll be highly dependent, in a large family/household it'll be far less so.
