Share Some Singles 2!
Just like last time! Here are some singles, most of which come from records expecting a release, that I have been enjoying and have me excited for new material from their respective creators! You can share singles that you have been digging on, recent singles are preferred, and I'll make sure to throw them up on the list. Short descriptions of said track are cool too, gives readers an idea of what to expect. |
1 | | Kingdom Tears In The Club
"Tears In The Club"
https://soundcloud.com/fadetomind/kingdom-tears-in-the-club
The track's name describes the tone you'll get from this track wonderfully. The very dark, morose piano melodies are matched up with some rhythms that equally dark, but still present the listener with something to groove to. If you enjoy the darker, sparser side of dance music, or just dig moody electronic music in general, I think you might find something to enjoy with this one.
'Tears In The Club' comes out Feb. 24 |
2 | | Menace Beach Lemon Memory
"Give Blood"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wp9Gd1CXFFg
As the opener to 'Lemon Memory', the bar was set really damn high for all the tracks following. Featuring the band's male lead vocalist, he's got a nice sour tone to his voice that makes the pre-chorus stick in the head that much more. But what really makes the track great is the wonderful guitar textures all over the track. Whether it be the rough main riff or the more left-field parts during the bridges, it gives the track an extra flavor.
Also, in case you wanted a track with the female lead vocalist, she's on one of the singles and it's pretty great too.

3 | | The Beatles The Beatles
MarcLo - "Swngn"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9NnDuGz2Ek
This is just a fantastic '90s-R&B jam with a killer hook, a charasmatic performance from MarcLo, and some amazing, colorful production from him too, especially with that beat change-up around the 2 min mark.
No concrete release date, but he's apparently releasing his debut EP 'Nostalgia" soon. |
4 | | Adam Torres I Came To Sing The Song
"I Came To Sing The Song"
https://soundcloud.com/fatpossum/adam-torres-i-came-to-sing-the-song-1
This is a really beautiful folk track that I've fallen in love with mostly due to Torres' voice. He's got a wonderful falsetto that especially blossoms on the main melody of this track. The extra instrumentation, especially the violin, are an incredibly fine touch as well.
'I Came To Sing The Song' comes out Feb. 24 |
5 | | Hippo Campus landmark
"Way It Goes"
https://youtu.be/n3TQKEUne5Q
It might not be incredibly original, but the sunny atmosphere and solid as hell chorus on "Way It Goes" is just incredibly alluring to me. Plus, the lead singer has got his own little quirks in his delivery that I've taken quite a liking to. For all you indie pop lovers out there, this is for y'all.
'landmark' is out Feb. 24 (god, there's a lot of great albums coming out that day) |
6 | | Spoon Hot Thoughts
"Hot Thoughts"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6KFBFg5q1Y
As a first time Spoon listener, I gotta say I'm hyped to check their other stuff before this new one comes out. The funky as hell groove on this track is absolutely KILLER. Hopefully the rest of their back catalouge is this good.
'Hot Thoughts' is out March 17 |
7 | | The Beatles The Beatles
Pote - "Fire For Fire"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-ZOk3wB0_0
Some great percussion on this track, I love how they fuse the organic and the synthetic so well in that aspect. Match that with a vocal melody that'll probably stick with you, this is just an overall solid track that I'm too clueless about electronic sub-genres to label it as one. Good track.
His EP, 'Fire for Fire' is out now! |
8 | | You'll Never Get to Heaven Images
"Images"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzS_01w5ISc
For all of you who love your female-leaded dream pop, I know you're out there, this is for you. The vocals and overall mood of the track are soft and alluring, and outro of the track is especially beautiful. The bandcamp tags "ambient dream pop haunting Canada" pretty much tell the story.
'Images' is out March 24 |
9 | | Ibibio Sound Machine Uyai
"Give Me A Reason"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=av_LPHEBnXA
There are just so many elements to this tracks, it's fucking INSANE. The afrobeat polyrhythms are there for sure, but then come synths and programmed drum machines that sound like they came right out of the '80s (I know I'm thinking of a certain song, but I can't put my finger on it), some great guitar and hand percussion parts, and Eno Williams, who's bold vocals help keep the madness that is this instrumental in control. This is probably my favorite track instrumentally of this bunch
'Uyai' is out March 3 |
10 | | Oddisee The Iceburg
"Like Really"
https://oddiseemmg.bandcamp.com/track/like-really
I wasn't too crazy over the first track from this new album, the hip house beat didn't sit too well with me. However, I really like the politically-charged power of this track, Oddisee just lets it loose. If you're looking for new politically charged music, check this ASAP. If you're tired of hearing about politics 24/7 and use music as an escape from it, maaaaybe sit this one out. Though it is still a sharply written song that definitely has me more hyped for 'The Iceburg' than 'Things'.
'The Iceburg' is out Feb. 24 |
11 | | Geotic Abysma
"Actually Smiling"
https://youtu.be/pOaZprdzPH4
OK, it's not Baths. The glitchiness on a record like 'Cerulean' is not to be found on this new track. However, I still think there's some merit to be found in this track. The blissful feel of the track definitely vibes with me. I really love the modest groove that comes with the tracks, the etheral synths that pop up every once and a while, and Will's vocals, while not playing an instrumental role in the track, are a beautiful addition.
Also, the music video for this track is bonkers and super dumb and I love it.
'Abysma' is out March 31 |
12 | | The Beatles The Beatles
Sasac + DREAMCAST - "Liquid Deep"
https://youtu.be/FpbbD7rb608
idk, this is just a really sick synthfunk slow jam. Sexy shit, man. |
13 | | The Beatles The Beatles
Howie Lee - "BANKERS"
https://youtu.be/vLgiSyiqSU0
I knew absolutely nothing about Howie Lee before listening to this track. Now I want to know EVERYTHING. This is one of the best straight banger beats i've heard in a long time. The eastern music inspired percussion, incorporation of wind instrument in the drop, everything. There's so much energy, so much personality, so much everything in this single track.
No news on an album (that i know of), but you KNOW I'm gonna be keeping my eyes and ears out for it |
14 | | Jonwayne Rap Album Two
"Out Of Sight"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l4F21FUL1b8
If you're looking for some introspective hip hop, here's some introspective hip hop ABOUT introspection. "Out of Sight" is an incredibly personal track that paints the picture of someone whose self-inflicted isolation eventually started to chip away at him tragically. This is a track that will definitely need your complete attention in order to fully appreciate it, but once you do it's definitely worth it.
'Rap Album Two' is out Feb. 17 |
15 | | White Reaper The World's Best American Band
"Judy French"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cloP2ZIkxuo
I LOVED their debut record back in 2015, so I was pumped when their new one was announced. This is most likely going to be an entirely different affair based off this new track. I was a bit dissapointed to hear the psychedelic keys and lo-fi production are absent from this track. However, the "fuck yeah" riffs and fantastic choruses are back, so even if this new one gives us a gussied-up White Reaper, I'm still expecting a well-written, passionately performed sophomore album.
'The World's Best American Band' is out April 7 |
16 | | The Beatles The Beatles
New Venusians - "Get Along"
https://soundcloud.com/freshselects/new-venusians-get-along
Sure, the chorus is a little cheesy and repetitive. However, the rest of the tracks elements are still well-made. The bass groove on this track is Grade-A, the vocals are decent if not a bit too clean, and the melody on said chorus are still really infectious.
'New Venusians' is out March 23 |
17 | | Tei Shi Verde
Tei Shi - "Keep Running"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwEieJWAbls
It's a glossy, synthy pop track with a sick hook. A bit radio-friendly, but doesn't diminish the tracks quality one bit. Can't think of much else to say about it, it's fun, go listen.
'Crawl Space' is out March 31 |
18 | | Nick Hakim Green Twins
"Bet She Looks Like You"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mbFxTXGnSo
God, I am in love with this man's voice. There's so much emotion in his passionate, blues-tinted croon that it makes this track worth a listen just to hear him sing. The hazy instrumentation that turns full-on psychedelic in the 2nd half is just an added plus.
'Green Twins' is out May 19 |
19 | | Jacques Greene Feel Infinite
"Real Time"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=du41fbsnma8
I hadn't heard of Jacques Greene before this track, apparently he's been kicking since at least 2010, but I'm super in love with this track that's off his upcoming debut record. The slap bass loop on this track is just so good, and the vocal samples are pretty catchy in their own right. Consider me hyped.
'Feel Infinite' is out March 10 |
20 | | Jay Som Everybody Works
"1 Billion Dogs"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkQywNhea4M
The first return artist from the first list, this 2nd single has got me even more hyped for her new record. It's a fuller, heavier track than "The Bus Song", but the sweet melody on this cut gives it that hint of accessibility that made "The Bus Song" such a likable track.
'Everybody Works' is out March 10 |
21 | | The Beatles The Beatles
Wilsen - "Heavy Steps"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72vWu1ssXUM
A pleasant indie folk song with some plucked guitars, tasteful electronic elements, and some incredibly sweet female vocals? Sign me up.
'I Go Missing In My Sleep' is out April 28 |
22 | | Sundays and Cybele Chaos and Systems
"Chaos & Systems"
https://soundcloud.com/mike-newman/chaos-systems
Some Japanese neo-psychedelia for you. The layers upon layers of kalimba and nice guitar lick really do this track wonders and the songs progresses wonderfully.
'Chaos and Systems' is out Feb. 24 |
23 | | Future Islands The Far Field
"Ran"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGi-wJP1q6o
Future Islands sure know how to come out with a killer single, don't they? It's no "Seasons (Waiting On You)", which is one of my favorite pop songs of the decade, but Sam Herring's vocals are as amazing as ever, and the instrumentation, especially the busy percussion, are super passionate. Thank you Future Islands for filling that hole in my heart that could only be fixed by great indie-flavored synthpop.
'The Far Field' is out April 7 |

"Sorcerer"
https://tonstartssbandht.bandcamp.com/track/sorcerer
"Psych pop duo puts out a 9 minute track off their new album. Their first new album since 2011, so I'm pretty excited. Very mellow stuff, but still has some melody and punch to it."
'Sorcerer' is out March 24 |

"It Still Moves"

"really fantastic slice of deep techno that has got me beyond hyped for the debut album which comes out in two weeks, beautiful sweeping melodies that reverb around very atmospherically, anyone into techno needs to give this a listen. also Lobster Theremin is one of the best labels around at the moment so album should be awesome." |
