The Nature of the Ground
I know that bgillesp disliked Hail Spirit Noir, but this song reminds me of HSN a lot. It's just as hellish and with a vocals that sound as if they weren't really typical Metal vox, but rather possessed by the devil himself just for this record. It also carries a lot of that lovable slightly-underproduced feeling that I adore so much. It's a juicy record, complete with its own guitar-nectar of a riff. Also, the obscure dyshrythmic part towards the back end of this track is a doozie. 4.6/5
3Stone Sour
Hydrograd

bgillesp - Rock
Witness Trees
A tad bloated and cheesy track, but one that at least accomplishes its goal of being simplistically catchy and a fine enough detachment from reality for a moment. Still, it's a bit primitive and forgettable, but okay while it lasts. 3.0/5
4Shizune
CHEAT DEATH, LIVE DEAD!

bgillesp - Punk
Dance Dance Dance
This is what my ears desire, some good old raw, desolative and rapidfire Hardcore. Me gusta! 4.0/5

bgillesp - Electronic
Actually Smiling
A pleasant and soothing piece that, while having its charm, didn't quite manage to evoke much of anything in me. It is nice, but that's about everything there is to it. It's a spa commercial music. 2.8/5

The Mountain Has Fallen

bgillesp - Hip-Hop
Horror Show (feat. Danny Brown)
Yeah, I don't know... I mean, it's fun, sort of, but it also doesn't have a whole lot to it that I'd like to the point of wating to come back to it. Danny Brown's contribution is also, just as usual, hard to digest. 3.2/5

Cold Night in Soho

Cold Night in Soho
Cheeky bastard, gave me a 9 minutes long track, aye? Well, you can expect reprecussions, because this song overstays its welcome nearly immediately. I like the cold and sombre instrumentation and songwriting, but to hear 9 minutes of it, especially with the vocals that don't really do a whole lot for me... well, it's a dreary mess... 3.1/5
8PVRIS
All We Know of Heaven, All We Need of Hell

bgillesp - Pop
Walk Alone
Yeah, nah... Sorry, a cold and dreary blandfest with occasionally progressing hook? Wish the harsher approach on the hook was contnued onto the rest of the song. Eh... 2.7/5

butcherboy - Electronic
Blue Train Lines (feat. King Krule)
You could have put this under Hip-Hop, I think I would have accepted it... I really liked this song's desparate nature, King Krule's vocal contribution that often spiralled into distressed yelps, and the track's instrumental side that kept progressing and escalating into an increasingly more enthralling experience. It's a doozie. 4.0/5

butcherboy - Punk
No Skin
A cool and feel-good soft-Punk effort that might not exactly offer a whole lot of outstandingly brilliant moments, bt at least is a pretty good Surf-Punk tune. (also, points for Perth, mate) 3.7/5
11Thurston Moore
Rock N Roll Consciousness

butcherboy - Rock
Smoke of Dreams
Turning from relaxed and nonchalant quietness, into a quiet and calm sophistication. This song has a certain vague charm, but it also doesn't have a whole lot of memorable punch to it. Sorry. 3.3/5

Nightmare Logic

butcherboy - Metal
Executioner's Tax
God, Metal is fucking awesome, the lot of it.. Anyways, this was probably not the best Metal offering this year. The Youtube description explained this as a combination of Pentagram and Pantera, which seems fitting. Unfortunately, I always tended to rather dislike those two bands. And while yes, the heaviness and the dismal roughness is all there, the track still had that placid and tiring execution that always rushed me against the genre of Thrash Metal. 3.0/5
13Smino
Blkswn

butcherboy - Hip-Hop
Amphetamine
I am usually not a fan of this sort of chilled-out, cloudy Hip-Hop, but this track had a certain charm and utmost pleasant atmosphere to it that I just couldn't resist. It's a slightly tedious song, but definitely one that has a replay-value, so I might just get over that subtle feeling of dread that plagues this kind of music. 3.6/5
14Duke Garwood
Garden of Ashes

butcherboy - Folk
Coldblooded
Okay, with Thurston Moore on here, it's now obvious that Butcher likes himself calm and calculated music. Also, the stylistic line between Thurston and this seem to be a little blurred at this point. Coldblooded is just like Smoke of Dreams, but its personality and songwriting seem a little more engulfing than Thurston. Here you go a 3.6/5

butcherboy - Pop
Party
I appreciate the vocal range, but the way they pierce my ears, I feel like listening to that screaming sativa from Hairy Potter or something... 2.9/5

Frippertronics - Electronic
Solari
Damn, this is actually really pretty. Its spacey vibes and atmospheric, near-cosmic nature reminds me of the old Sci-Fi soundtracks from the 70s. It is a refreshing song from a genre I usually deem uneventful and boring, so a point for that, mate. 4.0/5

Two Parts Viper

Frippertronics - Punk
Eventually We All Win
A blast of a track. The slow-downs were sometimes uncalled for, but the hard-hitting dissonant parts made up for it completely. 4.1/5
18The War on Drugs
A Deeper Understanding

Frippertronics - Rock
Up All Night
Soft-Rock...as you do... yeah, it's fine. I didn't find it to be particularly memorable, even after multiple listens and the instrumentation, while versatile, still wasn't particularly interesting, unfortunately. At least, the tune's progression and the instrumental pallette was nice enough. 3.3/5
19Hell (USA)

Frippertronics - Metal
Wandering Soul
Hard, heavy, hellish, horrifyingly Hadean and above all an absolute mesmerisingly maniacal, murderous musical mastery. But it is a little flat in production. 3.6/5

Frippertronics - Hip-Hop
Global
Although repetative to an excruciating extent, it has an incredibly exciting and bloodpumping kick-off to it. 3.4/5

Avignon
An intriguing atmospheric piece that is a little hard to get into at first, but is quite rewarding once you eventually do get into it. 3.5/5

Frippertronics - Pop
Systemagic
This song is beautifully odd. Its mechanical electronic beats, near-robotic vocals on the hook and almost calculated songwriting creates a certain dismal atmosphere, even though it appears to sound uplifting. As if I was listening to some sort of musical representation of an inescapable brainwashing dictature of technology. 4.0/5
