| August 2016 resumé PART 2
The original list ran out of space, so I'm making another one. As always, if you indeed arrived on this thread not accidentally, but by your own decision and you indeed intend to read these amateur ramblings of a lonely cannibalistic tambouret enthusiast (tambouret=a combination between tambourine and clarinet), write "I like your big hairy cat, mate." in the comment section, so that I could keep track of how many people are actually reading these lists of mine. This is no best-of list, it is just a bunch of records I've heard, that were RELEASED this month. Not the ones I've heard this month, but ones that were RELEASED this month that I've heard. Therefore, as the time goes, I'll be adding more items on the list, since I listen to stuff constantly. By the way, the names occasionally written under the comments are titles of songs that I recommend. If there are none written, it's either because I didn't like enough of them or because I can't point out a highlight. And now a score guide: 10/9 - 5; 8 - 4.5; 7 - 4; 6 - 3.5/3; 5 - 2.5; 4 - 2; 3 - 1.5; 2/1 - 1 | 13 | | David Vassalotti Broken Rope
Yeah, I don't know what to think about this. It's a brutal mess. Not brutal in sound, brutal in its execution. It can be rally unbearable. Like, really. 4/10 | 12 | | Arc Iris Moon Saloon
Normally I'd hate this kind of music. Bland echoic Indie Pop usually goes way over my head. However, Arc Iris' music is strangely enticing. The screeching string section and the occasional psychedelic production leave a great mark. It is no longer a boring, washed out Pop. It is now a patient, tender Psych-Pop taht can sometimes get almost unbelievably beautiful. 7/10
Kaleidoscope, Kingdom Come, Pretending, She Arose, Saturation Brain | 11 | | Arkells Morning Report
I mean, it starts off promisingly enough, but it quickly deteriorates into just a pile of absolute uninstired boredom. 4/10 | 10 | | Darkher Realms
Not all that exciting or even moving album, but one that has a certain personality to it nonetheless, though a quite vague one at that. 6/10 | 9 | | Gonjasufi Callus
What in the world is this? A demo recording of Gonjasufi's drug trip? 4/10 | 8 | | Altadore Opal, Luna, and Hymn
Though it initially feels like a pretty relaxed experience, it quickly turns extremely boring as you realise that this uneventful, tender and sugary sound is carried out throughout pretty much whole record. 5/10
Opal, Mental Hurricane | 7 | | Heaters Baptistina
This is a really Lo-Fi, rapid and sort of fun album. My main issue, however, is that it's not exactly anything beyond just enjoyable. Although, understandibly, it isn't really aiming to be anything above, but it's just sort of hanging in the middle with not a whole lot to offer outside of its core musical style and occasionally pleasant instrumentation. Plus, I really didn't care for the vocals; had they not been there, it wouldn't change a thing. 6/10 | 6 | | Inquisition Bloodshed Across The Empyrean Altar...
I mean, it's decent enough if you like yourself some one-dimensional, never changing Black Metal with oddly subdued vocals. 6/10
From Chaos They Came, The Flames of Inifinite Blackness Before Creation | 5 | | Tory Lanez I Told You
I honestly don't mind it, it's like your typical run-of-the-mill R'n'B influenced Hip-Hop with some occasionally impressive production. But are the endless skits really necessary? If you have one or two, it's alright, but once you follow EVERY SINGLE TRACK with them, it becomes obvious that you simply had nothing new to say. 6/10 | 4 | | Les Discrets Virée Nocturne
Pointless and bland, only Le Reproche shows some potential. 5/10
Le Roeproche (Demo) | 3 | | King (AUS) Reclaim The Darkness
If you think that you've heard all the epic Black Metal in the world and there is nothing that can surprise you at this point, think again. Australian outfit King, although certainly following a lot of tropes and clichés of atmospheric Black Metal, have created an album that, with its versatile instrumentation (especially those juicy riffs) and brilliantly enchanting songwriting, grips and doesn't let go throughout its entire runtime. I didn't experience a single moment of boredom listening to this record; I was simply hooked from the very start till the finishing notes. It's a fantastic Black Metal album and that is all you need to know. 8/10
Cold Winds, Reclaim the Darkness, All in Black, My Destination The Stars, Winter Sons, The Journey Begins | 2 | | AJJ The Bible 2
I honestly can't understand anyone, who dislikes this record. This is a pure Lo-Fi beauty. I suppose it has something to do with this album being different from the band's previous work, but I am not that familiar with that, so I can't really judge. Either way, this is a fantastic record full of moving and fun tracks with some truly powerful, albeit odd songwriting. There isn't really a single song that I could name a lowpoint. They are all incredibly well made. Even the dirty Lo-Fi shtick doesn't sound out of place, in fact, it sounds like it is the only production style this album could possibly have. 8/10
Cody's Theme, Golden Eagle, No More Shame No More Fear No More Dread, Goodbye oh Goodbye, Terrifyer, Small Red Boy, When I'm a Dead Boy | 1 | | Mesarthim .- -... ... . -. -.-. .
I understand that production-wise this album leaves a lot to be desired, but will I be damned if this isn't the most epic and emotioanl thrill-ride of your lives. 8/10
