07.19.14 | Issues and Attack Attack! are really shitty though.... |
wwba
07.19.14 | "poorly ripping off multiple genres
does not make you original"
yes it does, this is how almost every genre was born (metal [psychedelic rock + hard rock], mathcore [mathrock, hardcore, metal, noiserock] just to mention a few)
as a "ripoff" of multiple genres, a combination of different sounds
however ripping of one certain band (Jane Doe era Converge in this case) is just pointless, yet people still give the copycat bands credit and hype... which is laughable |
wwf
07.19.14 | dude wwba thanks for the Palm Reader rec, I'm listening to them now and they totally rule |
jefflebowski
07.19.14 | sputnik doesn't have a problem with experimental music, as is painfully obvious
2 3 and just happen to be bad albums. i don't give a shit about how original they are |

07.19.14 | I like how this list is doing the exact opposite of what is was hoping to achieve with people checking out 4.
Unless this list was meant to make people check out 4 in a trollish fashion. |
Thunderkat
07.19.14 | Sputnik has a problem with bad music. |
RoundOnEndHiInMiddle
07.19.14 | There is nothing "experimental" about haphazardly throwing in every genre you can think of into one album, like 2. It's gimmicky, and not well done at all. |
Feather
07.19.14 | I'm about to check out 4. I have never heard it and apparently is very highly rated. Thanks. |
ChoccyPhilly
07.19.14 | A new sound isn't necessarily experimental, nor is it good. If someone recorded the sounds of a tree falling and glitched it to death, that may be abstract and experimental, but is it good?
Also, the sound of the bands mentioned above has all been done before. How could you ever call that experimental? |
Skull917
07.19.14 | The question should be why do sputnik users consider Opeth and Death to be the greatest thing that have happened to music since Beethoven? |
ChoccyPhilly
07.19.14 | That's a much better question, but most actually don't, we just hold Opeth and Death in high regards |

Greenpaw
07.19.14 | Please wwba stop with this charade. I mean Attack Attack... c'mon. This is the same album that made crabcore a thing. |
wwba
07.19.14 | @Greenpaw so I should discredit them because someone made a gif? |
ChoccyPhilly
07.19.14 | We should take Enter Shikari for example (a band I love, so don't be like 'you don't get it' shit)
Sure, they may be pioneers for the 'electronicore' genre, but did you ever imagine that it's actually quite generic? Like sure, they use electronic elements into post hardcore, but the songs themselves aren't exactly groundbreaking or something entirely new. Something new isn't necessarily good and you focus on a tiny tiny aspect of 'experimental' music and think none of like it. |
Diamondize
07.19.14 | do u like boys wwba |
witchxrapist
07.19.14 | Enter Shikari... pioneers? Oh dear lord this is silly.
Underoath in 2001 son. |
ChoccyPhilly

wwba
07.19.14 | @witchxrapist
Underoath was also very influential (more influential than ES AA and AA! combined) but they didn't have programmed synths
Enter Shikari's first LP can be easily considered groundbreaking
both Asking Alexandria and I See Stars (and a lot of other bands) use programmed trance synths with breakdowns and it works well |
Diamondize
07.19.14 | u didn't answer my question |
JesusMilosovic
07.19.14 | It works well if you like mindless lyrics and monotonous breakdowns.
And underoath didn't use programmed synths? Are you deaf? |
MoosechriS
07.19.14 | hahahahahahaha what the hell is this?
"So I'm asking you sputnik people.. Why the hell can't you appreciate innovation/originality?"
we do, just none of it is present on this list. |
jefflebowski
07.19.14 | why do you assume bing groundbreaking is an inherently good thing
some sounds just don't work together |
ChoccyPhilly
07.19.14 | Yes, but what I was trying to say is that some groundbreaking isn't necessarily good music. I love TTTS by the way, but there's no way you could call that experimental, or maybe your experimental is just different to ours, as it is a broad term after all. I'd classify something like this as experimental and it blows everything on that list for innovation
