Rain
“I can see
The fire from my window
I can see it with my eyes closed
I’m on the hill, looking down,
I set the fire, I was there!
Across the river
Is a house with a view
I can see them with my eyes closed
Their memory, and my memory.”
I loved his first solo record, “In the L.L. Library Loft”. To many people, “Madonnawhore” feels like a new beginning. I see where they’re coming from. While I’ll never deny the existence of Library Loft as a solo record, this one has a different purpose entirely. Madonnawhore’s blue cover (and transparent blue vinyl if you have that version), fits the mood like a glove. Kind of like how Library Loft’s dark red tones fit that album’s vibe, right? Anyway, Toby’s gift of songwriting is untainted by over-instrumentation on this record. These are ballads, not power ballads. There’s enough reverb to drown a small animal, but it still retains a lucid quality. He also lets you know that letting friends help out can lead to greater rewards. | 2 | | Tyler Burkhart Lost days
