Guzzo10 03.24.14	Jesus, with the talk about the Braves going on here, you would think none of you actually watch baseball. "Two of the Braves best starters are out for the season" Medlen is the only guy from last year who the Braves will miss, and they just replaced him with Erving Santana. Erving Santana is a great 2 guy in the rotation, plus Mike Minor and Julio Teheran both could be aces this year, considering their development from the past two seasons. That's 3 top of the line guys in the rotation. Add in the best bullpen in baseball, and there is a reason why the Braves had the best staff in baseball last year, ERA-wise.

Wadlez 03.24.14	Nationals rotation is much better than the Bravos, who still hold the edge in the bullpen. Ervin Santana is a great 3 in a rotation, who is inconsistent year to year. Braves are extremely lucky he was still available. Teheran has the potential to be a 1-2 for sure. Minor may be an average 2 in a strong rotation. I wouldn't speak in such absolutes. An improved Nationals team should make it an interesting race for the division.
Guzzo10 03.24.14	The Nats first four is definitely impressive, IF they play to the potential. Thats a big if seeing as the Nationals organization likes to do their best impression of the Yankees with Jaba. If Strasberg can stay healthy, if Gio can find a median between 2012 and 2013, if Fister can keep performing like he has the past 3 years and if Zimmerman can repeat last year minus the falloff in July and August, the Nationals will indeed have the best rotation in baseball. But I don't think all four of those things will happen.

Guzzo10 03.24.14	scherzer is one of the most overrated pitcher in baseball, but he is still really good. If Verlander can get back to being Verlander he is definitely the ace, but if he does an impersonation of last year, I think Anibal is the ace. Smyly can potentially be really good, especially after the spring he had this year. Porcello is pretty awful though.

Wadlez 03.24.14	It's definitely close between the two rotations. However, if Scherzer is in Detrot next year I'll be shocked, which makes trading Fister a bad move for them. Scherzer already declined a massive contract worth almost 25 MM annually, which is already an overpay for a pitcher entering his 30s who probably had his best year.
nononsense 03.24.14	It's gunna be a season long battle between the Braves and Nationals for the NL East title. The team that finishes second in that division will get one of the two wild card spots.

A lot of pressure is also resting on Skaggs and Santiago though, but it can't be as bad as last year; getting Blanton out of your rotation is an automatic improvement.

Curse. 03.25.14	People need to stop acting like losing Beachy for the year is a big deal. He has had one really great half a season in his entire career. Losing Medlen hurts like hell though.

Solid starting pitchers and a veteran bullpen but with no moves to replace Marlon Byrd and Justin Morneau and a very lackluster offense last year, I don't think they'll manage without making a few moves or having some talent from the minors surface.

Depending on Pierznsky to play catcher. Aside from Jon Lester, Peavy, injury prone Clay "Rickity Cricket" Buchholz, they will depend on Lacky, Capuano, and Ryan Dumpster. While they could win, I think the Ray, Yanks, and Orioles all have higher percentage chances to win.
