12.02.18 | Sounds like some solid ISIS/Ag worship. Somewhat memorable without overstaying and I'd definitely respin. Nice aesthetic, song names, and artwork too. I was waiting for a crushing section to come in after some of the buildups but it stayed pretty mellow from start to finish. Only thing I would criticize is that lack of release/bite and also some of the drumming sections. |

12.02.18 | I've never listened to ISIS, where should I start with that? I'm surprised you think it stayed mellow because I thought there were quite a few heavy parts. The drums are mostly loops but I'm working on getting someone to record proper drums for this. Seriously thank you for taking the time to jam it man, I appreciate that shit. |
DungeonBoy
12.02.18 | did you mix and master this yourself? You might want to ease up on the compression man, I couldn't get past the selected track "Not Pictured". Unless you intentionally want it to pump like that |
artiswar
12.02.18 | I listened to it through pretty good headphones and didn't find anything egregious. But yeah, I know nothing about mixing. It was actually a struggle to get it sounding this good haha. Any input on that front would be appreciated. If you're saying you physically can't listen to it I definitely want to fix the issue. |
iglu
12.02.18 | I see what dungeon is saying in Not Pictured
sounds like u recorded it too low and compressed tf out of it to make it sound louder |
artiswar
12.02.18 | I did record that one too low and just raised the master track volume. I guess I'll have to rerecord that song, thanks for letting me know. I really appreciate production tips because I'm just kind of trial-and-erroring it atm. |
iglu
12.02.18 | "raised the master track volume"
oh yeah never do that, there's still ways to make it louder without doing that tho, just look up stuff on youtube |
artiswar
12.02.18 | Thanks, do you have any links in mind specifically? I guess it's just me but I actually like how washed out that song sounds, kind of like you're underwater. But I definitely see your issue, I'm sure I can fix that one way or another. |
artiswar
12.02.18 | I updated the track, hope that works a bit better. |
Sinternet
12.02.18 | i think your composition and arrangement is pretty great but yeah the production needs some work
i only heard the first track but your drums sounded kinda lifeless and monotonous, the dynamic range is also just way too narrow in general - i don't think your bass sound really compliments your lead, its way too muddy. i don't know what rverb you were using but it definitely needs to be larger and wider - concert hall reverb would work a lot better, also i'd tone down the distortion quite a bit and have a more clean and refined sound to kinda make the two elements gel better
but as i say from a compositional standpoint this is pretty cool man nice |
naughtcturnal
12.02.18 | Liking it so far, 2nd track is bomb |
artiswar
12.02.18 | I released the first track a year ago and you were the only person who commented on it Sint. I already know what you thought of that one, check the other songs you bitch. |
Meridiu5
12.03.18 | first three ISIS albums are all super neat. i like celestial cuz its dirtier but most people like the other two |
artiswar
12.03.18 | Checked out Celestial, that was a damn good recommend. I can definitely hear some similarity too. |
Beardog
12.03.18 | It does really feel like a demo. Improve the drums and production and you could have something nice. I think this is quite good musically speaking though, albeit a bit boring |
osmark86
12.03.18 | "raised the master track volume"
oh yeah never do that, there's still ways to make it louder without doing that tho, just look up stuff on youtube [2]
this is where compression actually is useful. also only play around with the volume on your mixer tracks, never the master. |
artiswar
12.03.18 | The drums are loops until I can get live drums recorded. I think they're pretty good for what they are. And yeah, I've noticed that I mixed some tracks too loud. I'm going to try to equalize the volume tomorrow so that the volume doesn't jump so much between songs. Thanks for the feedback guys, sorry you found it a bit boring Beardog, but I'm pretty happy with my compositions if not so much the production itself. |

12.03.18 | This is real good |
artiswar
12.03.18 | Thanks man, so glad a few people enjoyed it at least. Any thoughts on the T/t? I just banged that song out like 2 days ago and it's one of my favourites |

12.03.18 | "do you have any links in mind specifically?"
well I use Live, not sure what software you're using but this talks about compressors and limiters which have been useful to me

I also have limited knowledge on this subject so maybe someone else can help you out |

12.04.18 | Thanks I'm gonna check it now |

research by watching videos on mixing and mastering. Understand how EQ works, compressors, how different instruments should sit in a mix. Learn techniques like mixing in mono. People go to school for years to understand all the intricacies of music production, but Youtube is an incredibly helpful tool.
also, buy this:
https://reverb.com/software/effects/izotope/300-izotope-ozone-elements-mastering-processor-reverb-exclusive-preset-pack
it's a $130 mastering tool by Izotope on sale for $20 that will help you out tremendously |
artiswar
12.04.18 | Damn that's a good sale, I think I will bite. |
DungeonBoy
12.04.18 | You won't regret it man. The limiter on that alone is well worth the price, but the EQ and imager are also excellent. If your cpu isn't from the stone age, you can put Ozone Elements on your master fader. Make sure the input signal on the master has plenty of headroom (select all of the individual tracks and lower or raise them together) and let the limiter do the work. |
artiswar
12.04.18 | I'm $5 short on my prepaid to get it right now, gonna have to buy a fresh one in the next couple days. I seriously hope it lives up to the hype. |
DungeonBoy
12.04.18 | If you use it correctly it will work wonders on those tracks you posted, and if you need any help just PM me dude. |
artiswar
12.04.18 | Ok thanks, will do! |
