Meditation / Warpdrive

Meditation had a lot of what I look for in DnB. It had dense ethereal atmosphere, a nice bassline and tone, and sounded like a good representation of the UKs exploding dance scene from the early 90's. It's a pretty standard atmospheric DnB track as far as arrangement goes but done well. 3.7/5

Last Chance

I'm guessing this will be the shortest track of the round at a little under 4 minutes. It utilizes some soul vocal samples and the drums clicked and clacked at a pretty standard dnb pace. There's a dubby bass line with some warbles, dynamic effect, and atmosphere. It was a decent track but nothing special and kind of what I expected from the artist. Never was a huge fan of Break. 3.1/5

Two Pages

A jazzy number that should have probably interested me a lot more than it did. I even listened twice to make sure. I dug the music with jazzy and symphonic elements and some off kilter organic sounding breaks. Could have definitely done without the pseudo intellectual lyrics which I've always hated and nothing special about her voice in my opinion. This wasn't horrible or anything but not really my thing either. The second half of the track made this score higher. 3.2/5

Just An Example

Original Nuttah

This was interesting. A ragga jungle track of sorts with some frantic breaks and jamaican rap. Got me pretty hype and had to listen twice to fully absorb. Some really nice sub bass thumpin and great vocals with the frantic breaks driving the track forward as sirens sound. Wasn't crazy into it but could definitely understand the appeal. 3.6/5

6The Third Eye Foundation
The Dark

Symphonic droning, glitching and distance breaks lay a really strange foundation here. By the time it's halfway through it feels sort of like a mush of ambience with some noise and glitch over top. After one listen I will say that I liked it but this seems like a track that merits more time. I will be giving it another shot for sure. 3.7/5

Ed Rush & Fierce - Locust

Ah some dark nocturnal dnb was overdue and this hit the spot. I always seem to gravitate more towards the dark and entrancing dnb. This mixed in some grimey synth work and kept the pedal to the metal for it's duration. A deep sub bass punched violently through the mix and the breaks complimented the dark urban mood well. 3.9/5
The Gemini Principle

Mr. Malcontent

I really liked the pacing of this track. It also had more of a unique atmosphere in comparison to a lot of atmopheric dnb. Really great tone on these drums here and I like how upfront in the mix they are with the atmosphere swirling around them as the centerpiece. Both elements of the bass were also great utilizing both a subby distorted sustained bass as well as a dubstep like wobble/growly bass. My only complaint here is that it was too short. 4/5
